Office 2016 -- Buy Now only links to Office 365 (subscription)

    Hi there

will office 2016 be available as a stand alone (non subscription) product for non corporate users. If I follow my link to Buy Now from the trial preview it only offers me Office 365 or Office 2013.

I'm NOT interested in subscription software or Office 2013.

I suppose then back to Office 2010 !!!!. - I'll see if Office 2016 appears within the next few days --still have 70 days left on the trial preview.

    Cheers

Jimbo, it's early yet and I can't see 2016 on any Microsoft sites, I'd expect it to start showing mid morning US west coast time.

Jimbo, what is the concern over the subscription version? At $99 a year for 5 installs of the premium version of the suite, plus 1tb of OneDrive space for 5 accounts, really makes Office super cheap. 1 single copy good for 1 pc only of Office 2016 professional is $399. Thats 4 years of office 365 subscriptions, plus you get the time value of money since with the full software you would be out 399 on day 1, but with 365 you only spend $99 in year 1, leaving $300 to do with however you want.

Unless you only need 1 copy of the most basic version of Office, the 365 sub is a no-brainer. If you require Outlook, thats $229. I'd be on 365 at that point.

Sadly, I downscaled my MSDN to a version without office. It was a huge cost savings.

But my Office365 sub has 2016 available today now. Its super cheap.

Office 2016 requires a Office 365 subscription. All that Microsoft did, was create an offline Cloud Based interface, that uses Office 365 for the real work.

It is not going to go well with the consumers when they go to install it and find out that they have to pay a monthly membership.
