Can I change the value of default line spacing (in this case, 0 pt is the default value)?
You can set the default line spacing in the Paragraph dialog
You get to it by either from the Home or Layout tabs
Paragraph group > click on little arrow at lower right
To set the default line spacing:
- Change the line spacing to what you want
- Click on Set as Default
- Select either for this Document only or all new documents.
- Click on OK button
Note new documents get their default settings from a file called Normal.dotm
Two questions:
4. Can I edit the Normal.dotm to change the default value of line spacing to millimeter?
5. How do you shortened the line spacing so that, for example, the baseline of the font on first line is tangent to the ascent of the font on the next line?
I have never heard of any way to do this using line spacing. However, you can get the result you want by putting one of the lines in a text box and moving the box so you overlap the other line. It is your choice which line you put in the text box. Examples:
Here is how you do it...
Put one of the lines in a text box
Right-click on text box
Select Format shape
Shape options
Fill = No fill
Text options
Layout and Properties
Left margin = 0
Right margin = 0
Top margin = 0
Left margin = 0
Close format shape
Right-click on text box
In menu move cursor down to Wrap Text
Select either
Behind Text or In Front of Text
Which one depends upon which line you want to be in front of the other.
When done hide the border for the text box:
Right-click on text box
Select Format shape
Shape options
Line = No line
Close format shape
