How Can I get My Hotmail Account to Work With Office 2010

I'm trying to link my hotmail email address to Microsoft Outlook 2010. But when I set it up and relaunch the program I get the following messages. This also means I have no way back into the program if I wanted to set up a different account. I realise Office 2010 is old now, but is that the reason why I cannot set up an email account. Any help is appreciated.

The DavMail might be worth a try.

The following table lists the Office versions that are supported for connecting to Microsoft 365 services. For example, connecting to Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, or OneDrive for Business.

As stated in a April 2017 blog post, only perpetual Office versions in mainstream support are supported for connecting to Microsoft 365 services. Office 2016 is no longer in mainstream support, but we made an exception for it until October 2023, as stated in a September 2018 blog post.

There is no plan for Outlook clients to support OAuth for POP and IMAP, but Outlook can connect use MAPI/HTTP (Windows clients) and EWS (Outlook for Mac).

I do not use Hotmail, but do use Outlook 2010 - I discovered some time back that Exchange will no longer talk to O2010, so I can no longer see my Outlook.com calendar in O2010. I believe you have an option to set up your Hotmail account as either exchange or IMAP/SMTP, and you need to switch to IMAP - but I do not know how easy that is, or whether you would lose old emails.

Some of the info here might help.

I thank you for you assistance. I think the easiest option for me is to use an alternative programme, as there are plenty to choose from. Perhaps to use a supported version is also wise as Outlook 2010 is getting old now.

Are you using this on a personal computer or on a business setup?
