Outlook 365: How to delete a blocked attachment from a Sent email?

MSO Outlook 365.

I have an email in my Sent folders that has an attachment that Outlook has blocked as potentially unsafe. It isn't but that's beside the point.

I want to save the email but for tidiness sake want to delete the unsafe attachment. I can't find any way to do so - without possible registry modification or downloading an unknown utility.

Any thoughts how to do this?

Normally, you'd be able to open the email, right-click on the attachment & select Remove before then saving the email in its new state.
Is that not working?

Yes, that worked for the .txt file that was also attached. But the blocked file (an Internet shortcut) isn't shown as an attachment when the email is opened though visible as a "paperclip" in folder view.





No amount of right-clicking gives me an option to delete the offending attachment.

I've experienced that as the recipient of an email with an Outlook-blocked attachment but didn't realise that it was the same for the sender.
The frustrating thing was that the email was still clearly the size of email + attachment even though the attachment was not shown so I kept thinking there would be some way of extracting the it. But I never managed to.

Thanks Denis. The registry edit worked; reset it afterwards. Also disconnected from internet while doing the change - just in case

Thanks for getting back.

I'll test it in my Outlook 2007 & Outlook 2021 when I find time by sending myself a batch file.
