togel,
Ignore Outlook for a while - close it.
You can find your pst-ost files without it.
I tried to search for the files by searching from the search window down left, but it says these files have to be search from Outlook.
I really hope that comment is inaccurate because it makes no sense to me at all. They are just files. File explorer can search for files.
Run File explorer,
For each drive you have:-Select the drive itself rather than any subfolder of it,
Type *.pst in the File explorer search box {in the upper-right area},
Copy the results into a file such as a simple text file,
One method of doing this is to select all the results then hold down the Shift key whilst you right-click & select Copy as path, then let go of everything & go to your chosen results file & paste the results.
Then type *.ost in the File explorer search & do the same with any results.
Because your Outlook 2010 is out of support [as is my Outlook 2007], I cannot find reliable explanations of where your pst-ost files are.
But make sure that you check these folders if they have not already been identified in your File explorer search.
- C:\Documents\Outlook Files {This is, I believe, the default location used by Outlook 2010}.
- C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook {This is where Outlook 2007 wants to create your pst file but many people change that.}
There are other Outlook configuration files worth rescuing but the pst files are by far the most important.
- I think somebody mentioned Rules.rwz but don't worry about that. Rules are saved within the pst file.
- If you use RSS Feeds in Outlook then there are additional configuration files to consider but I don't know if that facility was included in Outlook 2010 let alone whether you made us of it.
- Outlook 2007 is what I know about.
Once you are armed with a list of your pst [and ost files, if there are any], I want to guide you in making a copy of them somewhere.
- Do you have a home network you could send them across?
- Perhaps you could still boot from a USB such as a Windows installation USB or a Macrium reflect boot USB. Do you have either of those? Do you have another computer to use to make one?
- If you can boot from either of these USBs, you could copy the pst-ost files to them. I can explain how.
By the way, I keep referring to both pst & ost files. I do not know how you set up your email accounts in Outlook.
- Mine are set up for POP email retrieval so I only have pst files.
- ost files are associated with IMAP & EAC email account settings. I never use ost files because I never set my email accounts in Outlook to use IMAP or EAC email retrieval methods.
I assume you know what your email addresses are.
- You might have set them up for POP, IMAP or EAC. We can discuss that afterwards.
- If there are only pst files then we know that your email accounts were set up for POP.
- If there are any ost files then we know that IMAP/EAC needs to be set up in Outlook.
All the best,
Denis
