My wife's PC is running Windows 10 but Word 365 has stopped respomding. Totally dead. All other apps - Outlook, Google, Explorer work as usual.
Have tried various solutions found via Googling Word 365 not responding, The only one that worked was running Word in safe mode. In safe mode everything seems OK, other than being very slow.
Unfortunately I have run out of things to try now. Help would be appreciated - she has taken over my PC!
Thanks Zebal. I did a repair and I thought it had repaired the issue but then I discovered the problem was not that it was not responding. The problem is that it was taking 3 or 4 minutes to start working after being loaded. After that it worked fine.
So the problem is now Word is taking several minutes to fully load.
Can you please describe what does not work within word when it starts?
is it keyboard input, templates load, is it frozen when started or something else.
I understand that it starts normally but then doesn't work for 3-4 minutes, but what is that doesn't work exactly?
Take a screenshot if you think it will help identify the issue.
Word opens straight into displaying a blank document. NON-flashing cursor, I can move it around, but clicking on any tab results in all headers going grey. The X still works but results in the box with Close program or wait for it to respond. I can close it but if I opt to wait, a few minutes later Word is working normally.

I also think it might well be a Windows problem that is merely showing up in Word.
Do any other applications have problems?
I agree with zebal but I suggest using the TenForumsTutorials guidance for that job instead of the MS article zebal linked you to.

Use Option 3 including, if there are irreparable errors, going online to run the DISM command explained at the end of Option 3.

I haven't tried every app obviously but the few I have tried including Outlook and surfing seem OK, as is Word itself once it decides to work. It seems as if it is looking for something and taking a long time to find it. Might be worth checking the hard disk for errors as well.
Unfortunately and in fairness to my wife, unsurprisingly, she can't recall what led to the problem appearing.
I have tried a the repair of Office without success so I am inclined to agree that the problem lies with Windows.
I'll try your suggestion re SFC later - it's working at the moment and she had work to do on her PC - and I have work to do on mine so I don't want her pinching mine!
Perhaps a templates folder path or other configuration folder path has been altered to one that does not exist so the delay is Word trying to find it?

We are apparently thinking along the same lines - it's looking for something but not finding it.
But going back a stage, why does it automatically open with a blank document?
When I load Word on my PC it displays a number of options - the template I want to use, recent files, and a menu down the left with a few options. My wife's Word goes straight to a new document. No option to select anything, though there is once it has started. I can close this document without saving and the select File New and that gives me the regular screen that I see. However I noticed only one Template. I have several templates to choose from - default ones plus a few I have created.
I'm going back to the idea it is a Word problem!

I ran a virus and malware check with Avast - clean bill of health. So what caused the corrupt files that SFC found (and fixed).
