So why does Office 365 install all programs, with no options

I sort of miss the "old days," where the Office installer tree was this large tree of install/do not install/install on first use choices.

If I had an older system with limited drive space there might have been an issue. But at a minimum, why install programs like Publisher that I will never use? For me. Publisher is just software bloat.

I think it's because of marketing, MS wants their users to believe they get a lot of stuff in a single package which let's them raise the price of a product.

Another reason is they force people into buying and paying more, anyone who wants or needs only word will have to buy a whole suite so they're making money out of their hegemonic bigotry.

The old ways have been better of course.

Most of office has common coding, so you do not save much space by excluding components.

I am at the point in my life where I would demand/beg somebody for a copy of MS-works/Office and just be like whatever if anybody ask me about it. It just seems so silly at this point in life. I could see the naive college student with the confused parents going bonkers over "What machine should I get" and "why am I paying for something that only could be installed__ times"

Libre Office or Open Office pick your poison. %90 of people who own a computer initially used it as a typewriter and not a
stock-market, banking machine, and least of most videogames.

My Opinion is why does anybody needs to have the legit office suit int he modern world I have no idea. Can somebody fill me in on this?

The only reason why MS-works is popular is because of MS-DOS/DOS on IBM machines.

That was popular because it was a cheaper alternative to hiring a "recorder" or "messenger" agents, to even using a "typewriter" with
"White-out". That pretty much sums up the entire MS-works innovation. Oh wait did I forget "Spellcheck" and "punctuation" along
    with "grammer" suggestions.
