Cannot add PST file error code 0x80070002

hi there I hope you guys can help and its ok to post this here as im sure its not OS dependent.
I have just set up a brand new machine for a client, installed Office 365 on it.

I have partitioned the drive and move his user profile folders to the 2nd (D) partition)

I managaed to set up Outlook for him no problem
However when I try to add his PST (data) file as soon as I click ADD under Data settings I get the above error code 0x80070002

    I have tried :
    Windows Updates
Recreated the folder path that some article suggested was missing
Attempted the registry entry fix to force the PST file creation

    All with no joy

My next thoughts were whether to create a new admin profile, which will get created on C.
NOT to move the profile folder to D and then recreate the outlook profile and see if it lets me add the PST file?

    Any thoughts

    TIA Bart

    Thanks for this.
I tried this earlier without any joy.
The only difference being in the registry there was only an Outlook folder not an Outlook xx folder which I assume is due to it being office 365

    Try:
Click the File tab > Open & Export > Import/Export.
On the Import and Export dialog, select Import from another program or file option. Then, click Next to continue the process.
On the Import a File dialogue, select Outlook Data File (.pst). Click Next to continue the process.
On the Import Outlook Data File dialogue box, click the Browse… button to locate the PST file you want to import. Select the PST file, and click Open.
Now select the option Do not import duplicates, and click Next to continue the process. Finally, click Finish.

If that doesn't work then I don't have other ideas.

    Bart,

What exactly are you doing? I don't recognise your description of where you are trying to "add". Perhaps you could post a screenshot.
I think you are trying to get Outlook to open the pst file but you wrote "add".

If you want to open a pst file, you can do it this way:-
    Run Outlook,
    File menu,
    Open & export,
    Open Outlook data file,
Browse to & select the pst file,
    Open.

If you are trying to replace its existing pst file with another one then, whilst Outlook is closed, either delete or zip up the default one created upon installation [or when you first run Outlook] then re-open Outlook. It will demand to know what the hell you think you are doing and it will provide a browse dialog so you can select the one you want to open.

    All the best,

Hi Denis so if I go to File and Account Settings
    Then data files tab
    Click Add

I have a 2nd pst file that I am trying to add for the client.

    Bart,

    Understood.
I never use that route but it should achieve the same result.
Does my suggested route work or does that give an error as well?

Perhaps an Office Repair might help [after you've made a new system image so you can be confident of not being worse off whatever then happens].
