How to remove all default templates in word 2016?

How to remove all default templates in word 2016

I have a client who does not want to see all the standard Microsoft Templates crap from appearing when opening a new word document.
They would like to not see the default templates they will not be using anytime in the near future.
They are not looking to just pin commonly used templates above all the other junk.

Anyone know how to eliminate this Microsoft dictate?

Options > General > Startup options (may have to scroll down for this) > untick Show the Start screen when this ...etc

It's just Microsoft's attempt at pretending it wants to be user-friendly and helpful. Funny thing is, I've never found ANYONE who wants this eye candy when they open the program.

Thank you for your reply. But it's not quite the solution.
When you click on "new" this screen (screen shot show below) opens.
Client does not want all these "suggested searches and templates" yadi, yadi, yah "we force it down your throat whether you want it or not".
He also asks what is the big deal with this huge blank space on the right side.
When you resize the window it maintains the equivalent of 2 columns width emptiness on the right.

Don't use the File > New menu options

Add the button for "New Blank Document" to the Quick Access menu ribbon.

You can also do the same to the main menu ribbon, but you need to create a custom group to add it.

Let's know if you want directions to either of the above.

    Why not just use WordPad?

When you open WordPad, it immediately opens to a new document without all the templates and other stuff.

I ditched Word 2013 for that very same reason.

    Why not use a typewriter?

Go to Word 2016, File menu, Options, Advanced.
Click on the File locations button to see which folders the templates are in, back them up then you can delete them.

I always change the User templates entry in the list that appears to a folder of my own choice into which I put my own templates.

    Best of luck,
