It's back up to $39.99 at the moment, but perhaps will drop again tomorrow aka Cyber Monday. I got a license for $39.99 a couple of weeks ago for my laptop. If it drops again I may buy another license just to have one in reserve.

It hasn't been the case with any of the previous versions so I wouldn't expect it to.

Sorry if I was unclear. The history of Office is previous versions continue to receive security updates (for a time), but are not eligible for a free update/upgrade to a new version. For instance I have Office 2016 on one of my PCs and I cannot update it to Office 2021 for free. I would have to buy a license for Office 2021 if I wanted to replace Office 2016. I hope this is more clear.

The T&Cs say Redemption deadline: redeem your code within 30 days of purchase. What happens if you want to reinstall Windows and then reinstall Office at some future date. Will the code still work?

I dunno, it's not MY deal.

But I would think that once you redeem the code... it's yours.
