    Office 2019 - Contacts/People not displaying correctly

Yesterday when went to look in my contacts list the display had got corrupted as shown below. I have a few things to try but any other suggestions would be welcome.

As you can see the selected contact blocks out most of the left side of the window.

Seems to be a known problem given out for free by MS in an update. Reverting to an earlier version fixes the problem.

Execute this command as an administrator:-

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\officec2rclient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=16.0.15601.20148

    Sam,

You do know that you can get out of that View, the "People" View?

Click on the Ribbon display options icon near the right-hand end of the TitleBar in the top right-hand corner of the Outlook window [I can see it in your diagram, fourth icon from the right]
    Show tabs & commands
Double-click in the TitleBar if the Tabs have not appeared automatically
    Click on the View tab
    Change View
Choose one of the other Views

    All the best,

I have this issue as well. Does running the command to change the version make any other changes you're aware of?

So don't select the People view. It's only this view that is a problem.

There's another discussion of the People view in Problem displaying contacts in Outlook 2016 desktop app - TenForums

I started the other discussion, and yes I get that I don't have to select the People view. The problem initially was not seeing how to get out of the People view once selected. That can be done by changing the width of the contacts list behind the frozen window until the other contacts views become accessible in the ribbon. This make things manageable, but it's inelegant and pretty shabby for what is supposed to be the industry standard in "Office" software.

See post #2 above for another way of getting out of it.

    Agreed.
So are other aspects of Outlook use these days. I don't think there is any consideration given to individual users during the design of changes let alone much testing to check that they've done what they intended to do.

The only thing I've noticed is that when I start Outlook it doesn't remember the last position and size of the window. No big deal really for me.
