    MS Office Shortcuts

    I have Office Home & Student 2007.

All included programs work just fine & the shortcuts open what they are supposed to. My problem is that when I look at a shortcut's properties, the Start in: box is blank. None of the shortcuts list where the shortcut is pointing to.

Here is an example, all shortcuts (Word, PowerPoint, Language Settings, etc.) are the same; no Start in: location.

That's how MSOffice creates its shortcuts.

But you are not missing anything. The Start in box does not necessarily have anything to do with the location of the application that the shortcut points to. It often merely sets the starting folder for use by that application [and I don't know how many applications actually pay any attention to it any more].

Your MSOffice 2007 applications are all in
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12"

You can create your own shortcuts to your applications if you want to. I have one to
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12\EXCEL.EXE"
because it quite handily creates a new instance of Excel which I find useful if I want to arrange spreadsheets on-screen.

    All the best,

Thank you very much, it's exactly what I was looking for.
I remember that once installed, the shortcuts for Office 2007 DID have the Start in: information when I was running Windows Vista & Windows 7. Am I mistaken?

Sorry, I have no old notes or screenshots covering that.
    I wouldn't be surprised though.
I don't recall any greyed-out shortcut properties at all from Windows 7 days.

    All the best,
