Excel: AutoFit Row and minimum row height.

    latest-greatest win10 and Excel.
I want to set a minimum value for cell (row) height. When I do that, rows that have more text than other rows, stop displaying the entire text and only show a portion you have to scroll through. Meaning row height becomes row height for all cells, regardless of how much text is in there.

If I set the "AutoFit Row Height" option, it undoes the above and puts me back where I started. Rows are too narrow but the ones with a lot of text show the entire text.

I want min row height while the max should be defined by how much text is in there.

Asking this after 30 mins of searching, everybody wants to know the same thing and I haven't seen an answer that works yet.
Can't believe something that simple can be that complicated.

I already saw that. It does not address this simple problem. I can set the row height but it doesn't make an exception for rows with multiple lines of data, it adjusts all rows.

I need min row height and no limit on upper value of row height.

If I auto adjust, it goes to default row height, back to square one. Auto adjust either had a bug or a logic in its design, it doesn't respect the row height you just set and undoes it.

I need all rows a certain height except some rows where I want to see the entire long text without hiding any of it.

As usual, they complicated things without addressing pretty simple problems. There is 1000 and 1 inquires online about this very same issue, the best thing I gathered, I am supposed to write a macro to do this.

That sounds to me like a description of Autofit row height so I am concerned that I don't quite get what you want.

Autofit row height will never reduce row height below that needed for a single line of characters.
Do you mean some other setting for minimum, perhaps?
Might what you want be achieved by inserting a dummy column containing dummy characters in each cell of a larger font that ensure Autofit row height is never less than the minimum you desire?

    I use this sequence:-
1 Drag column dividers around to make best use of my available display width,
2 select all rows and set row height 15.75, assuming font Calibri 12pt.,
3 click on Wrap text for the relevant columns only [the ones I can see are going to need to be multi-line ones],
4 select all rows and click on Format, Autofit row height,
5 review the results, adjust column widths for what I think will be a better layout, repeat 2-4 then review the results again..

If that is not what you wanted then please explain more.

    Best of luck,
    Denis
