How to make blank ppt slides default

For decades when I begin a new PowerPoint presentation (or add a slide) the default slide template includes *title and bullets*. So I highlight all and delete to get to a blank slide to add e.g., shapes/pictures.

How do I change the PPT presentation (and new slide addition) defaults to blank slides automatically?

    Thanks.

    Hello @lbeck,

I think I got round this by setting up a Template.

    Also, have a look at these . . .

    > POWERPOINT – STARTING WITH A BLANK PRESENTATION
    > Set Default Blank Slide in Layout - YouTube

    I hope this helps.

No - unless I'm missing something.
    • Your first URL directs me to a course teaser that shows how to ADD blank slides, The user still needs to delete the first and subsequent templates.
    • The second URL tries to sell me "Grammerly"

PPT appears to use the term "design themes" when discussing defaults or saved options. I've followed the suggestions and did searches but still cannot find a solution to my preferences.

    See
Create and save a PowerPoint template - MSSupport
    - The article explains that it is the act of using SaveAs then selecting the template type that takes you to the template folder [which is the same folder that Word, Excel use].

There's probably further advice tucked away in
PowerPoint help & learning - MSSupport

    All the best,

    Apologies for the first one.

The SECOND one you just need to either let the AD finish playing or press Skip Ad when it appears!

Excellent news. I was pretty sure that was the way I got round it too as I posted above.

Thanks for the rep but what did you mean by it needing "manipulation"?

If you explain here then it will help somebody else searching the forum for this topic.

There are slight differences in the way that Powerpoint and Word/excel handle templates

This in-depth doc may give you some better control going forward

Here is a quick way to do this on a one time basis without creating a template:

Note I did this in PowerPoint 2019 but I checked and it also works in PowerPoint 2010.

    1. Select > View > Slide Master

    2. Select Blank slide in list on left

    3. Drag it and drop it in 3rd place from top

    4. Select > View > Normal

    5. From then on when you select New Slide it will by default be a blank slide
