    Scam or Real (Office 2021)

    Hi folks

Is this a Scam or genuine --seems cheap enough at around 48 USD/EUR / 40 GBP

    Seems to have passable provenance.

Microsoft Office Professional 2021 for Windows 10/11 (Instant Delivery) – SoftMall.co.uk

    Cheers

Just to start with, AVG Online Security reports this website as "SAFE", if that helps.

As for the software? I don't know. It's a great price.

    H there
    @CMArbres

I have LTSC Enterprise from work but another spare copy which I can use on a VM seems to be worth the risk - especially with outside UK no VAT here on "Educational Material" so with no VAT it' s 20% off so 38 EUR I've just paid -- If it doesn't work well it's cheap enough for a punt on it. If it also doesn't work I'll report back on this site.

    Cheers

Nice one @jimbo45 Thanks for posting back with the outcome.

I'm tempted myself now. I currently pay monthly for Office - 365 so at only £40 for the deal you've just got I'd actually save some money , quite a lot over a few years.

    All the best,

The problem with a lot of websites like this is they often sell the same key several times, and eventually MS activation objects to this. I did this recently "for a laugh", and indeed it was a scam, and MS refused to accept it.

So although @jimbo got lucky, there is no guarantee you will. In fact, if MS detect it, eventually his licence could get blocked as well.

I am not saying his site is not genuine but in the end, it is always questionable how they can sell them e.g. they may be selling cheaply licences obtained from 3rd World countries which are cheaper but not actually permitted to on-sell in other parts of the world.

So if you use such a site, go in with your eyes open, and be prepared to lose your money - CAVEAT EMPTOR applies.

Hitherto, this has always been my own take on all of these offers. On reflection this afternoon, tempted as I was because this company does 'feel' legit having a good sniff around, I'm sticking with my present arrangement for the foreseeable.

However, the transition from stand-alone software to subscriptions does just gall me a tad, even though I have got used to it to some extent. It seems to be the trend though, and I don't see any turning back.

Two giveaways. Both "LTSC" and "Professional Plus" signify non-retail versions of Office 2021.
A retail version would simply be Microsoft Office Professional 2021.

BTW, I have Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019. I know it is not retail but the price was too tempting. If it ever stops working I will not complain because I know what I was getting.
