    Christophe,

I made lots of notes about why I rejected Office 2016 but these two Outlook, Calendar views illustrate my main peeves:-

    Wonderful Outlook 2007 - - - - - - - - - - and - - - - - - - - - - Woeful Outlook 2016
    Attachment 358342 - Attachment 358341

1 Calendar view in Office 2016 does not let me keep my whole shortcut pane [the left-hand pane]
2 Calendar view in Office 2016 does not let me keep my whole date selector pane [the right-hand pane]
3 Calendar view in Office 2016 has huge screentips which cannot be turned off or reduced in size and which are a huge distraction as I move my cursor across the screen to select a particular item. The Outlook 2007 ones are so small they are not a bother at all.

I use PhotoSudio to blur personal info in posted diagrams. MSPaint cannot do that but does let you select areas and cut them out [turning them into white rectangles].

    Yours with baited breath,
    Denis
Yes, I see your issues. I am having to go through some hoops getting into Outlook at all atm as it keeps wanting the .ost file for an old account that no longer exists, nor the path. Thanks to a forum tutorial here, I successfully changed the \user\name I use some time after I stopped using Outlook, and haven't bothered with it since. The upshot of is that I have had to manually create the path it wants using just new folder structure in \users and then use Notepad to create the emailName.com.ost file it wants. That worked. I am now in Outlook, but have more hoops to jump through to set up a new account and get Outlook to play nicely with ditching the old, redundant one it is obsessed with.

I shall persevere and impose some discipline manually on Outlook to behave itself and do as it's told and then be able to look at the rest. Shouldn't take long. I love this kind of problem. Gets my back up and I dig in. No power on earth like a determined man.

Be right back when resolved. I'm half way there now anyway. It wouldn't even open with my above action so I'm gradually getting there.

    Christophe,

I hope your purchase works out for you.

Do note that softmall [Software Mall Ltd, as stated on their website] has a single Director-Secretary [resident in Russia], has not yet filed any accounts at Company house and its name has a history of re-use involving the same single Director-Secretary.

    Hi there

    @Try3

Then it obviously shares the same pedigree as Putin but lets nots let turn this into a political discussion !!!

On Politics and Poker which I suppose is what Russia is doing these days with Ukraine Putin is a far slicker and accomplished poker player than PM Johnson whatever the rights of the situation. -- Johnson isn't even in the same league as to qualify for the Casino doorman in this "game" for want of a better word irrespective of the politics involved and possible nyumber of casualties on both sides if the thing escalates into a shooting war.

Loads of businesses are dubious tax avoiding corporations at Companies House in the U.K -- How about overseas Debt collection agency Robinson's way (now rebranded as Hoist Finance rebrands Robinson Way and launches new service - Credit Connect.

They try and get debts (uncollectable) from as far back as 20 years (in England 6 years / Scotland 5 Years) debts are statute barred but they buy up these wretched things for pennies in the pound and then attempt to pounce on people who long since have "moved on" and don't know the law -- added to which a load of their directors are non paying U.K tax avoiding exiles in Sweden or elsewhere and formely known by its victims as "Robbers way" - or UK Govt outsourcing debt collection agency known as C(r)apita.

    Christophe,

Whenever you can & want to will be soon enough. I've waited about six years already so …

Oh, by the way, I had to use the Snipping tool [rather than Screenshots] to be able to capture the Screentips.

    Yours patiently,
    Denis

Great news. I've done what I wanted and now have Outlook fully cooperating using my new \user\name and without any sign of the old one they cherished so determinedly like a dog with a bone. So, good news transmitted, I will now attempt to replicate your desired setup for you and then post the outcome.

Hold fire until then. As Arnie said...

@Try3 Hi Denis. Well, I have tried to replicate the view that you like regarding left and right columns, alas, without success. It is exactly as your second pic.

However, I can help you with screen tip annoyances using Options. See pics of both below.

    Scam or Real (Office 2021)-outlookcalendarview.png

Don't worry about anything of mine you can see in the above image...nothing that compromises me. But this is all that seems possible for the calendar view layout. No right column available. I had a really good dig around but there appear to be no options for the kind of custom view you'd like in your first pic. I must say I quite like how it is though as it's simple and uncluttered with good screen real estate for the main section.

This seems to be pretty simple to get under control.

Let me know what your thoughts are.

Just to let you know that, as well as the Options settings, left as default, the screen tips close when not focussed, as opposed to simply staying on. However, I can see how they might be annoying if calendar entries are densely packed in. I'm not that busy these days. And they can just be switched off it seems.

    Christophe,

Thanks so much for running that test for me. I'll stick with Office 2007 so I can keep my Shortcut & date selector panes.

[When I tried to sort out Screentips in Outlook 2016, I found that the entry in Options only related to what was shown whilst hovering the cursor over an Outlook control rather than what was shown whilst hovering over a Calendar item.]

    All the best,

You are very welcome my friend.

One last screenshot for you of how the right column seems to be set to display the Help facility by default:

    Christophe,

If you ever get a reoccurrence of that email problem [I was too slow to post this before and you'd already cracked it for now], several TenForums threads have described how they solved it by changing the EMail profile in Control panel. The relevant links that I've kept are

    Thanks for this Denis,

I reckon I've got this now but I'm bookmarking your post with links you gave me and will read them to see if there is anything else that I need to do. I didn't realise that I could change the Fmail profile in Control Panel, so that is something I'll do if what I've just done hasn't changed it already...doubtful.

I'm enjoying starting to use Outlook again and have it playing nicely with my Google account now, all integrated, Calendar, too. I never used Google for Contacts so will resume using Outlook for that now it's up and running again.

Incidentally, I really like Office 2007 Professional and have it installed on an old PC that I'm donating soon to residents here for those without access except via the Public Library. It has Windows 10 Professional on it so is easy to configure for safe public use in all the ways that I need it to be before deployment. I'm now just negotiating with my Landlord for an internet connection in the community room here where it'll be installed, and then good to go.

I was really just going to say that Office 2007 is a terrific bunch of software and I can well relate to you wanting to use it, especially as it sings along nicely re how you want Outlook to appear in Calendar view. I get that.

    Anyway, in the fulness.

    Christophe.
