Stop Microsoft Office opening in 2 pages

I have Microsoft Office Pro Plus 2019
Have been pleased with it no problem
However this morning it is opening in 2 page view side by side.
I just want it back to normal where the 2nd page would come below the 1st one Can you help!

If this applies to a specific document:-
Set it back the way you want it.
Make a change, any change, even just adding a space at the end of a para is enough.
    Save the document.

If this applies to all documents of a particular template:-
Open the template itself by right-clicking on it and selecting Open
Set it back the way you want it.
Make a change, any change, even just adding a space at the end of a para is enough.
    Save the template.

    All the best,

Thanks for replying. It is happening to any document I create this morning. Was fine yesterday. Don't know where the template is. Sorry...comes with age.

    Hi @JO69

I think this is due to zoom levels..

In the bottom right corner, change the zoom levels to around 150%.

Thanks ..... but my zoom level is always on 150 %. Not changed for years.

Alright, in that case we can change side-by-side view.

    Click view then, choose 'vertical'.

You have referred to the entry in the Ribbon, View tab, Zoom section and that's what I have also been addressing. I know what James is referring to but it is not the same thing.

I suggest that the first thing you do is find the entry in Word Options to prompt before saving changes to your "Normal template". That is what I think has got you into this mess. For your Word 2019 this setting is at
    Word,
    Ribbon,
    File tab,
    Options,
    Advanced,
    subheading Save,
Prompt before saving Normal template - set this checkbox.
Now if Word thinks you really do want to change every document by changing the template upon which they are based then it will ask your permission first.

Your templates are, by default, in
    Code:
    C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates
Copy that line so you can paste it instead of having to write it all out manually.

Using File explorer, click in a blank portion of its address bar then right-click, select Paste [or just use ctrl-v] to paste in the templates folder path I just gave you.
Look in that folder for Normal.dotm,
    then

Set it back the way you want it i.e. click on the One page icon shown in my diagram.
Make a change, any change, even just adding a space at the end of a para is enough.
    Save the template.

Don't think of it more than one line at a time.
    - Read each line
    - Do what it says or post back any questions you have
    - Move on to the next line

    Trepidation is normal.
