Office 2019 Pro Plus vs 2021 Pro Plus?

I think I read somewhere that the latest 2021 Pro Plus version of Office will not get new features updates, only security patches, whereas the 2019 Pro Plus does get new features+security updates. Is this true? (I'm referring to the standalone versions, not subscription)

    Hi there
Office 2021 is really itended for corporate entities and has an LTSC version which by definition means that it's stable and will only be updated for security enhancements if required and serious fixable defects == which on the whole Office (any version from about Office 2010) doesn't have as it's a stable and well used product.

I really can't see any differences that a typical Office user woud notice so just go for the best deal. Remember though Student/Home/Teacher editions don't come with an E-mail client when choosing what you want to get.

    Cheers

Maybe that's the European version cause the USA version comes with Outlook. Mine came with Outlook.

And you really can't "purchase" a Student/Teacher version anymore as most schools offer it to students anyway for free.

    Specifically,

Office 2021 Home & Student comes with Word, Excel and Powerpoint
Office 2021 Home and Business comes with Word, Excel and Powerpoint, and Outlook
Office 2021 Professional comes with Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Publisher and Access.

Both Office 2019 Pro Plus & Office 2021 Pro Plus are only supposed to get security updates. That's what MS say is the difference between outright purchases & 365 subscriptions.
Having said that, I did see at least one post a year or more ago in which a user had both Office 2019 Pro Plus & Office 365 and reported that both had received exactly the same updates. Perhaps MS just found it administratively convenient to issue all updates for both types - but that cannot be guaranteed for the future.

    Merry Christmas,

Thanks everyone for your replies. Still not sure about the answer to my opening post, not even sure if a "Pro Plus 2021" version exists. Very confusing

I don't think there is a Pro Plus version of Office 2021. I think it's simply Office 2021 Professional.
