PowerPoint Videos Do Not Work in PDF

I am using O365. In PowerPoint, I have inserted several MP4 videos. When I "Save As > PDF," is there a way to make those MP4 videos work in the PDF? Currently, the PDF only shows a static image of frame 1 from the video.

Is a .pdf a requirement? An HTML Web page usually works with embedded things.

    Hi mridzon

I inserted an MP4 in Powerpoint using Insert/Video/Insert Video from this device and then saved the file and reopened it.

Although the video image appears as a static pic, a mouse-over produces the playback controls/status.

What is the reasoning behind saving as a pdf?

Powerpoint after mouse-over action or clicking on image

PDF of the PPT, is our typical deliverable to the customer.

I thought it might have been an easy fix. But from reading the responses here, it doesn't seem like there's an easy answer to get it into PDF. So I'll just scrap the idea altogether.

    Thanks for your time folks!

You do know that you can save a PPT as a stand alone with a built in player.

Yes, I am aware of that. But our typical deliverable to the customer is a PDF.

This Chrome extension allows you to convert several video formats to PDF, however; you would lose the ability to view it in a video format.

Convert Video to PDF - Chrome Web Store

If you're hoping to maintain the playback functionality, I can't see how a PDF format will be suitable.

    Update:

I tested this Chrome extension out of curiosity. For what it is, it's pretty slick.

I first uploaded/converted a 2 minute mp4 video to PDF, it produced 10 static images.

I uploaded a second mp4 and converted it to 25 images. This action only required about 100 seconds using a cell hotspot for an internet connection.

You can set the number of images 1-100, set the left & top margins on the PDF, a few other settings and download the files as zipped jpg or PDF format.

Being a Google app, it requested I remove ad blocking & then proceeded to add SPAM to my conversion experience. Beware, & don't click on the SPAM.

The image quality looks pretty good and I can see the value in keeping this extension available. I can't see using this converter too often so I'll just disable it until required.

Adobe Acrobat X Pro allows you to insert rich media files, such as video, sound, or Flash documents, into PDF documents. ...

Anyone with the free Adobe Reader software can view and/or hear the media without additional software.

PDFs can include Flash, QuickTime, MP3, MPEG, and Windows Media files, among others.

Add audio, video, and interactive objects to PDFs in Adobe Acrobat

    Jean-Francois

That looks like an excellent solution.

Do you know if the multi-media insertions into the PDF are playable in PDF viewers such as a Chrome type or other browsers?
