Lack of Gridlines and faint prints in Excel 2016

I am using Excel 2016 on my W10 pc to produce a printed table with multiple columns and lines filled with data using an Epson Expression XP-620 printer. The print preview shows all gridlines but when printed some of the vertical column lines are missing but all horizontal lines are shown, also the print out is rather faint as if I was on draft mode which I am not on. I am sure this is a fairly recent occurrence but despite various setting tweaks (set to colour even though the document is all black; Emphasising text and faint lines; unticking high speed) the document still prints with lines missing at random. Anyone got any ideas as to why this is happening and if there is any way to correct it?

Basically it is 2 things, very narrow grid lines and resolution of the printer, add to that printers often have twice the resolution in one direction than the other which accounts for disappearing lines in one direction with the lower resolution.

In your printer the difference is a factor of 4 (5760 x 1440). The detailed specs may vary depending on cartridge and printing quality. That is the only info I could find.

I assume you have gone through the alignment and maintenance sections, using the test patterns etc.

The way to fix it is to make grid lines wider and black.

Do sample(s) with varying sections of different width gridlines and printing qualities.

I understand what you are saying. The spreadsheet I was trying to print was in landscape format so the vertical lines were being printed horizontally. Previously I had been printing spreadsheets in portrait format and the problem was not evident. However I have solved the problem by simply printing in high resolution instead of standard. I have not done an alignment check but may try that if I have any further trouble. Thanks for your help
