    Cannot remove old office files

I have recently been trying to update my Office + Project + Visio from 2010 to 2016 and it led to a complete mess with 32 + 64 bit versions not being compatible with each other. I decided to delete all and start from beginning and received error message 0x80004002 about existing files . I then tried deleting files as administrator and finished up with lots of files that were "were in use elsewhere" or that I needed admin. to delete.
I have tried Safe Start and then delete and whilst that removed a a lot many still remain
Attachment Office Files is example from files I cannot delete
I have gone back to my last Restore point but that gives me an error and does not revert
On trying a reinstallation I get error message about existing files
I really do not want to have to do a W10 reinstall if possible

    Ideas / solutions anyone?

    Hi,

These files are part of Windows since 2015, even if office is not installed they are always present. If you force deleted them, it damaged your Windows installation.

If you have other restore points you can try, I would begin with that.

You can also try to run sfc /scannow and then use the office installation cleanup tool (SetupProd_OffScrub.exe) to cleanup your remaining office files. Before attempting another installation.

If that doesn't work you will probably need to do a Windows refresh or an in place upgrade. to recover your Windows.

sfc /scannow and then use the office installation cleanup tool (SetupProd_OffScrub.exe) worked and I have reinstalled Office.

    Many thanks people
