    Outlook send/recieve issue

    Windows 10 Ver 21H2 (OS 19044.1387)

At least once a day, usually more, Outlook stops sending and receiving. I don't get any error messages and the only way I notice is that I stop getting incoming mail and/or I notice sent mail sitting in my Outbox. Internet and network connection is stable and fully functional when the issue occurs. Restarting Outlook usually solves the issue, although sometimes Outlook will hang during shutdown and I'll need to reboot the computer to fix the issue.

    1. What version of Office do you have installed?
    2. What build of Outlook is it (Outlook > File > Office Account > About Outlook)?
    3. Have you checked the Application Event Logs when this happens?
    4. Have you attempted to create a new Outlook profile (can rename current one and then recreate it, allowing you to revert it if the profile is not the issue)?
    5. Does this seem to happen around the same time every time it happens?
    6. Is this a personal machine or a managed machine?
    7. Do you notice it happening more when certain applications are opened?
    8. Do you happen to have any Macros or add-ins included with Outlook?

    Thanks for the response.

    2. Ver 2110 Build 16.0.14527.20270
    3. Not sure how to check event logs or what to look for
    4. Have not attempted to create a new profile
    5. Seems to happen around mid day and then late afternoon
    6. Personal machine
    7. Doesn't appear to be connect to use of other apps
    8. No macros or add-ins that I know of

    Hi 67Goat

Try out this MS guide to repair Outlook. It's an oddly well written, clear & simple MS publication.

Providing the W10 Tweaker suggestion doesn't pan out, what AV software are you running? Does it have automatic malware scanning around the times you're experiencing these issues (on average)?

I just unchecked all the add-ins and restarted Outlook per the repair guide. It will probably take a day or so to see if the issue continues.

On a separate note, I'm not sure what the add-ins do, which ones should I have checked?

You can search the web for each add-in and see what it is and if it's vital for what you use Outlook for. Most of them are likely Microsoft add-ins, but there may be integrated items from other apps such as Cisco Jabber or Zoom.

Add-ins have many uses and as mentioned, Google will provide answers.

These are listed in my Outlook.

Hopefully, you will be able to identify the culprit with this Outlook Clean boot test.

Due to the erratic nature of this fault, should this test not prove successful, your next step would be a Clean Boot of Windows.

Your 'My Computer' doesn't list any third party antivirus, is that correct?

You mentioned that is doesn't appear to be connected to other apps. Have you observed the fault happening in Outlook with nothing else running, no apps or browsers?

With all the add-ins disabled, it seems to be working normally. I'll start turning them back on one-by-one and see how it goes. Thanks for the help!
