Windows Update-wish they would leave the existing settings unchanged

Office updates, fine, but I wish they would make those the GUI changes optional.
Right now, after launching e.g. Outlook, one has to try and change the color settings back, the Quick Access Toolbar, blah blah.
I had my own Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) but importing my previous .exportedUI file would only partly bring back the previous QAT.

It is time consuming to change things back to how they were, i.e. the way *I* want it, rather than the way Microsoft want it.

Settings the Office Theme to "Colorful" brings back a part of the colors, though the title bar still has a different blue color.

Vainly tried to figure out where these settings -may- be stored in the registry.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks.
