    Glad you (kind of) sorted it out. Admit, can't remember what was the difference between Office 2010, 2013, and later. Regarding page layout that is

    In case it helps others in the future when sharing documents would it be accurate to say that the issue can be summarized as an incompatibility between different versions of Word?
    I guess to summarize;

    1. The printer drivers did not appear to contribute to the problem.
    2. Attempting to use a different template other than normal.dotm resulted in O2010 not being able to open the document
    3. Using his original normal.dotm template resulted in him seeing more pages because his template had double line spacing
    4. Using the same normal.dotm (sent from me to him), resulted in almost identical documents with a one page difference that could have been attributed to how picture wrapping was specified, or how links were interpreted. I don't know for sure what caused the one page difference.
    5. Embedding fonts in the document did not resolve the issue.
    6. Upgrading to O2016 but with his original normal.dotm resulted in him seeing more pages because his template had double line spacing. This was an issue with his knowledge of word. He thought changing the template was a complex process so he hadn't tried.
    7. Using the same template and O2016 on both PCs the documents matched. Changes made at either end look identical on both PCs.

    All suggestions are appreciated, but changing to a new program for which a non-technical person who has major time management problems is a recipe for chaos. The most appropriate solution IMHO is to solve the problem, rather than work around it. It would also have potentially required many hours of reformatting in LibreOffice to get the same results - I'm guessing here because I've only used LO on a few small documents.
