Tried to Google this to no avail. Google persistently ignores requests for info on Word stuck on lower case, even on Online Keyboard which is making it impossible for me to enter some ID info accurately. Anyone else any idea how to deal with this ?
Google keeps on offering how to avoid being stuck on UPPER case !

By Word, do you mean Microsoft Word?
What Font are you using? Try a different Font.
You also can Select the text that is all lower case, hold down the Shift + F3 keys it will make all of the selected Text Upper Case. If press Shift + F3 again, it will make all the first letters in eace sentence in the selected text an Upper Case letter. Press Shift + F3 a third time and the selected text will be all lower case.

I really do think you should edit your post. It's a mess and difficult to follow.

    1 What happens in Notepad?

2 Does Word respond correctly to the built-in onscreen keyboard? Or is that what you meant by "Online Keyboard"?

Many thanks for prompt and useful reply. This morning Word is behaving itself (or the keyboard is). But I have made a note of your post for future reference in case problem returns. Marking this solved.

Sorry if my post was a mess. I did not consider it merited a full blown explanation. I only half expected to get a reply.
I did not succeed in accessing the built-in administrator account so was simply trying to fill in an ID requested by BT following attempts to sort a colossal muddle that has developed over my Microsoft Account. My alternative address for the Microsoft Account is a BT email address. I was using the Online Keyboard accessible through rt clicking on blank part of desktop>Personalize>Easy Access>Keyboard as I suspected the keyboard I was using might be the problem but it did not help.
It felt like the proverbial last straw. The next morning the problem had disappeared. I have no idea what caused it or what cleared it. Probably a re-start would have done it anyway.

I am expecting my sons to do a clean install of Windows 10 over the coming weekend. I have (temporarily I hope) run out of steam.

    Many thanks for your time.
