    Excel 2016 title bar displays differently to other Office applications

    Hello

    I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this? In my copy of Excel 2016 the title bar displays as follows where the menu currently selected is underlined:

    Whereas every other Office application displays its title bar slightly differently:

    Can anyone advise why this is and how might Excel's title bar be made consistent with the rest of Office?

    I know this is a cosmetic issue but it is vexing! My copy of Office 2016 runs on a Windows 10 PC.

    Thanks

    Mr Morgan

    It is the same for me with Office 2019.

    It was asked in this thread

    Ribbon in Excel different from Word or Powerpoint

    I suspect that different developers are working on different Office apps. Maybe somebody at Microsoft will care enough fix this "feature". Of course this might be considered so inconsequential that it might never get fixed.

    @MisterEd

    Thanks for the reply. It is gratifying to know that it is not an issue specific to me.

    That's because you have the Microsoft 365 subscription.
    The look of Excel and Word you have matches what is shown on Microsoft's webpage for Microsoft 365.

    Microsoft has made it clear that they will concentrate on support for it. While Microsoft 365 gets new updates and features the standalone Office products like Office 2016 and Office 2019 only get security updates.

    Microsoft much prefers the subscription model where they have a steady and predictable source of income. People who buy standalone products generate a less predicable income because they do not upgrade often enough for Microsoft's bottom line.

    @Mr Morgan - That is how Microsoft designed the colours and there is nothing you can do to change them. Other people have asked the same question so no, you are not on your own.

    @wiganken

    Thanks for the post but it is not the colour, but the way the colour is displayed, that vexes me.

    I would rather have consistency of appearance across all Office applications.

    Oh, OK. In that case I agree with @MisterEd . Something we have to live with and accept.
