    Reading A File Created In WORD On A Mac On A PC ?


    Hello,

    Thanks for all the previous help over the years.
    Can really use some advice with this, as I'm pretty well lost on what to do. That old age problem again, I guess.

    I have a document on my MAC created with MS WORD.

    I want to put it on a USB stick and give it to someone who only has a W10 PC.
    They do not have MS WORD on their pc.

    I tried installing Libre Office on their pc, but it won't install for some reason.
    Instal always hangs up.

    Is there another program I can try installing on their pc that would read my original document created on my MAC
    with MS WORD ? It would be read off of the USB stick, as noted.

    Any other suggestions would be most appreciated.

    There is a Portable version of LibreOffice that requires no install, you just unpack it to a folder and run it from there. Like any Portable app, you can even run it from a USB stick, so you can take it with you and run it on any machine.

    Might also try WordPad in Start, W section, Windows Accessories, can open .doc and .docx files but might get a message such as shown here above the data page:

    If no luck then try MS Works 9: Microsoft Works 9 This is my MediaFire account. You would need to mount the .iso & then run setup.

    Back in Windows 3.1 days, I had and frequently used a little program called something like Conversions. I received docs from Mac users and PC users all the time, and had no problems when I used that. Oh, the good old days, when things were so much simpler.

    I use QuickView Plus for viewing files I don't have a program for. As I recall there was a 'lite' version included with Windows 95.
