Outlook 365 not displaying full message

Windows 10 (Current version), Office 365. Problem re Outlook.
My wife's PC is not displaying the whole of any email received. It displays the From and To lines and a couple of lines of the message then nothing. Selecting Reply, should normally display the message but all it does is act as if New had been pressed. And since I started typing this, my PC has started doing the same thing!
Both PCs are on the same household network.

Not much information I'm afraid. No apparent action by either of us. She was working on emails, I was working on Publisher and Word.

    10 minutes later.
While trying to sort it out, I tried to send myself an email. To - Address entered normally. Same re subject.
In message box, my usual signature was not displayed.
I pressed Enter a couple of times and cursor moved down.
Then when I back spaced cursor moved up a line and the bottom line of my signature (full name) appeared. I carried on back spacing and deleted the full name and at that point my first name appeared. Then deleted that and the greetings line appeared.

World wide issue apparently. Microsoft are aware they've stuffed things and are working on a fix.

    That's a relief - I think!
But if we were working on a local copy of Outlook how come message part of previously received emails on our PCs are affected. Or have I never realised that the copy of Outlook I use every day doesn't actually reside on my PC?

    Hi there,

I am running Windows 8 and Office 2016. My girlfriend has been running this machine and I just noticed the same problem on that machine. It does it in both my account and her's e.g. Outlook attached to two different post office files. And it does it for all files in the post office even those 5 years old!

Also, I notice that if I start a new email. I can only type one line. If I type a line, then enter the line of text disappears and I can only type a new line of text.

I reinstalled MS Office, ran virus and malware scans but same result.

Glad I'm not the only one experiencing this.

I am also running a Windows 10 machine with MS Office 2019 - no problem there.

    Thanks,
    Ric

Current versions of MS Office Outlook default to setting up email-calendar-contacts-tasks [& poss Notes?] as "EAS" / "Exchange" accounts. Your emails are still on the server and it is that you are looking at.

Only the very old & insecure "POP" method of email retrieval automatically downloads the whole of the email straightaway.

You have to carry out particular actions to download your whole email locally.

    All the best,

    I had the same issue.

Lines disappearing as I typed and skipped to next line.

    Seems to have fixed itself.

I had two laptops that had issues with Outlook not displaying email body text in received messages. Also new messages had problems with text disappearing whenever I pressed enter to go to the next line.

In researching I discovered that Microsoft knew about the problem and had distributed a fix.
    By using an elevated/admin CMD prompt and entering the following..... "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\officec2rclient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=16.0.13901.20462

    It worked for me!
It fixed my Outlook by correcting issues with a previous update.
    Best of luck!

    Say Dav -

For the command line fix, are you running Outlook 365 or stand alone with POP3?

    I am running Outlook 2016 w/ POP3.

    Thank,
    Ric
