Oulook Office 2019 Reading Pane options fade away

    Hello
For some time now, every time Outlook 2019 starts, I've had to reconfigure the Reading Pane.
Indeed, the desired configuration is: Mark item as read when selection changes (see attached image).
Now as soon as I close Outlook or restart it, all the reading Pane options fade away.
How to prevent my configuration from being reset?
    Regards

What type of mail account do you have? Don't type your email, just the type: exchange, imap, pop

Check if you have any Group policy for Office. Click Start, and type "gpedit" and run it. Then under User configuration check Administrative templates - if there is any mention to Office

    TNX for yr reply,
I'm using pop email type since many many years without problem.
When I run "gpedit" it return "Windows can't find gpedit" message. On the other hand, if I run "gpedit.msc" I open the Group Strategy Editor. Can't find any mention to Office inside Administrative templates.

Moreover, the option "Mark item as read when selection changes" I'm talking about has always worked since years. It was only a few days ago that I realized that the messages received remained bold after selecting them. So, I opened Reading Pane and realized that all options are unchecked. I checked "Mark item as read when selection changes", and then I8 realized that as soon as I close Outlook or restart it, all the reading Pane options fade away.

Can you set something on the server side. If you logon to your mail via web and check settings.

Pop is really basic protocol, and was originally made only for downloading message from server.

    Hello,
    I think there is a misunderstanding .
Outlook 2019 works very well. I receive and send all the messages without any problem.

For a few days, I have a "cosmetic" problem. When I open Outlook and get a new message, it's in bold. After selecting it (reading) it remains in bold while it should take a normal appearance.
I then open "Reading Pane" options and I check "Mark item as read when selection changes". And there, NO more cosmetic problem, the new messages received are bold and as
soon as I select them, they become normal.

The problem is as soon as I close Outlook or restart it, all the reading Pane options fade away (become unchecked). So, at every start of Outlook, I have to re-open "Reading Pane" options and check "Mark item as read when selection changes".
How to prevent my "Reading Pane" options configuration from being reset?

    Yes, Understood that.
Those problems aren't new. But it is strange that they appeared suddenly - this indicates, that maybe some changes were made on server's side. Which provider are we talking about? or are those different email accounts?

Changing options back would indicate that some rule set them back. typical is Group policy, but you said there is none.

Can you check, if other options work?
I have reading options set to mark message as read after 0 seconds opened in reading pane.

If this isn't working, try to repair Office installation - Programs and features (in Control panel) - click on Office, and select repair. There are two possible repairs - quick, and online.
    Try with quick first.

    Hi,
As you can see in the attached image, the option 2 (Mark item as read when selection changes) can NOT be checked with option1. Only toggled. While that option 2 can be checked with all other options.
I think we hold one end of the solution

I know that, but asked you if you want to try that option, just to check if all options will revert
