    Stuck on Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel

    I was originally on the current channel and in the process of trying to connect a work email it was changed to semi-annual enterprise channel on my home PC.

    I want to get back to the current channel but I am stuck.

    I tried using the OfficeC2RClient to change the channel to current.

    The command executed ok and then displayed a dialogue checking for updates, but it said no updated were required.

    The channel did not change in O365 apps.

    I tried reinstalling and that did nothing either.

    Any suggestions please how I can get back to the current channel?

    Thanks
    Peter

    I had a look in the registry and found

    CDNBaseUrl = http://officecdn.microsoft.com/pr/49...0-c7c6ddf67d60
    which is the current channel

    UnmanagedUpdateUrl = http://officecdn.microsoft.com/pr/7f...2-f9dd17fd3114
    UpdateChannel = http://officecdn.microsoft.com/pr/7f...2-f9dd17fd3114
    which is the Semi-annual enterprise channel

    I don't want to stuff things up but if I changed the later two registry entries to have the same value as CDNBaseUrl, will this get me back to working with the Current channel?

    Does this make sense or is there a safer way to revert back to the current channel?

    Enterprise editions are set to specific channel by their administrators, and contract with MS.

    That is, as far as I know (and I'm not an IT Admin, so may be wrong).

    So, I would speak with your IT admin, if they have a way to set you to current channel

    Thanks for getting back to me. This is a home PC and so I am the admin!

    I tried at one point to connect a work email account to Outlook and it was at that point it was changed from current channel.

    I am the only one that fix this if only I knew how to do it!

    When you connected work email account, it changed policies about Office channel. Don't think you can avoid this. You being the admin of your network (and computer) has nothing to do with administration of Office (Exchange) policies.

    Yep looks like I am stuck!

    I even tried changing the registry settings and tried to update. Initially after a long time it looked like it had updated to Current only to revert to Semi-annual after another check for updates!

    When you first connected your work account, you were asked to allow it to make changes to your computer. There was an option to allow only to fix email account.

    So, two options.. if you have backup (system image) you could go back to the point before connecting work account, ... and allow only to manage mail, not computer

    Other would be to remove (temporary) work account and see if you can change to current channel via options described in the first post.

    It was done a while ago and I did not allow it to make changes to my PC.

    I removed the account a while ago since I no longer work for that employer, it made no difference to the channel.

    If I could find out where in group policy a setting has been made to force the semi-annual channel then I could reverse that.

    As I said previously I when I forced the channel change in regedit it installed the Current channel

    But when I rebooted and check for updates again it reverted to the semi-annual channel.

    So something, somewhere is forcing that occur despite me having no active work/school account!
