Fresh install Office 2016 cannot download live.com.emails

Windows Insider Preview 21359 and Office 2016

Did a fresh install of Insider Preview 21359 and Office 2016 and now I cannot download live.com.emails!!

With the multiple upgrades Windows and Office previously installed I had no problem downloading Outlook.com emails. I recall installing the appropriate Outlook Connector ages ago but I cannot find a version that will install with my new fresh install of Windows and Office 2016!!

Why is that please? Is there anyone with a solution to my problem please?

    Thanks.

You don't need Outlook Connector. [I don't think anybody ever did for email, it was always a weird add-on.]

Add your Outlook.com account in Outlook for Windows - MSSupport

Or set it up manually, see
Outlook 365 - Viewing all SMTP and POP settings [sygnus21] - TenForums
Disable Outlooks New Account Setup Wizard - SlipStick
POP and IMAP email settings for Outlook - Office Support
Outlook 2013, 2016 email setup - Office Support
Adding an Outlook.com account to Outlook - MSOutlook.info

You might well have to reinstall [or restore an earlier system image] to ensure any Outlook Connector debris has been removed so you can set your email up the normal way. But if it truly did not install then there should be nothing to clean up.

Thanks a lot Denis for your reply and suggestions.

I did actually check the first four of your six suggestion links yesteday and last night but had no success. But I'll check out those last two a bit later and see how I go.

Oh!! I actually used the Mail link in Control Panel to set up the new install of Office 2016 but I see from looking at the process on that last link you suggested it looks a lot different to Mail and may just be the solution.

    Cheers mate.

So do all your pop/imap & smtp values match those required by Outlook.com?

If so, you must be looking at an application problem rather than an email settings problem.

I've just seen this added while I was typing. If the problem has not been solved already, I suggest you post snips of the dialogs you see so that any misunderstandings can be resolved.

PS I'm assuming you want a pop/imap setup because, otherwise, the automatic method would have set up EAS for you.

    No luck so far.

I tried the server settings in one of those links you gave me...

Fresh install Office 2016 cannot download live.com.emails-image.png

as well as my old Outlook account settings...

    pop-mail.outlook.com

    smtp-mail.outlook.com

using the same port settings as your link (which were the same as I had used in Outlook 2010) for the More Settings, Advanced pane but still no good.

This is really annoying as I'm sure you will understand. I feel certain that the problem I'm having will be one simply change... I just have to figure out what that change/setting is.

Please feel free to throw any more suggestions my way.

How to Remove a Screenshot or Image from TenForums.com Post - TenForumsTutorials

I suggest you remove that unwanted diagram now because it displays your email address [which can be harvested] and reveals how many characters you use in your email password.

Just as a comparison, here are my MS Office Outlook [2007] email account settings. My diagrams show you, in context, the settings you have been trying to set up.

    1 Tools, Account settings
Fresh install Office 2016 cannot download live.com.emails-1-tools-account-settings-clean.png
MyShortName is set in 3.1 below.

    2 EMail account settings

    3.1 More settings, General
Fresh install Office 2016 cannot download live.com.emails-3.1-more-settings-general-clean.png

    3.2 More settings, Outgoing server
Fresh install Office 2016 cannot download live.com.emails-3.2-more-settings-outgoing-server.png

    3.3 More settings, Connection
Fresh install Office 2016 cannot download live.com.emails-3.3-more-settings-connection.png
I've a vague memory that you do not have the Connection tab but I seem not to have saved the equivalent dialogs from my Outlook 2016 experiments.

    3.4 More settings, Advanced
Fresh install Office 2016 cannot download live.com.emails-3.4-more-settings-advanced.png
Note that I should not have TLS set but I'm using an old Outlook version so have no choice.

Thanks for the tip on how to remove Attached Files.

As far as your Office 2007 suggestion is concerned I had no problems with getting my Live.com emails when I was using both 2007 and 2010... and in fact 2016 when I had many times over upgraded Windows and Office on this hard drive.

It's only after I blew that drive away and installed fresh installs of Windows 10 Insider and Office 2016 that I haven't been able to receive Live.com emails to Outlook 2016.

So just to clarify my problem, it's ONLY the fresh, clean install of Office 2016 Pro that is stopping me downloading my Live.com.emails.

Yes, I realise that but the settings are the same [except that I use TLS instead of StartTLS].

Do your settings dialogs match mine?

Yes Denis but still no good mate.

I had an idea of installing Outlook 2010 beside the 2016 version then installing the Outlook Connector for 2010 then after opening Outlook 2010 to make sure that is working OK. But after that use only Outlook 2016.

This should give me the same working Outlook 2016 that I had before wiping that drive and doing fresh installs of Windows and Office.
