Office Professional Plus 2019 redirected to 365

I recently installed Windows 10 on my laptop and then installed Office professional Plus 2019.

When I launch Office Apps they want me to sign in and treat me like I need to switch to 365. This, I understand is because Microsoft has embedded program redirects into the registry to push their 365 strategy. I have found web solutions to edit the registry but this is a goose chase. Microsoft keeps changing where these redirects are located.

I do not want to login to use my apps. I will not use the cloud to save my data. The whole idea of installing Office 2019 was to avoid 365!

Another possible approach to avoid the redirect is to disable Modern Authentication. Can I get some help in doing this. Someone else here may have another solution.

Just to clarify, just because you might use Office 365, does not mean in any way that you have to save data to the cloud.

You may be able to save some money since Office 2019 Pro Plus is expensive by using Office 365. Office 2019 Pro Plus is $439 from Microsoft, and Office 365 is $69 a year. ($439/69 = 6.3). So, it would take you paying for Office 365 for 6+ years to reach the cost of Office 2019 Pro Plus.

This computer laptop, was just updated to Windows 10. I scoured the installed apps to make sure no Office or Office programs were present or uninstalled before I installed Office 2019.

I prefer to have control of the app myself. Microsoft has no intention of making 365 a cheap solution,the price will go up over time and I am sure there will be special add-on costs they impose over time. You will end up paying a permanent tax to use any software at all. Your Microsoft bill will become a significant cost.

I know it is possible to disable the Modern Authentication for the Office Apps, I have seen reference to doing this on the web. I just don't no how to do it.

To be fair, the cost of Microsoft Office 365 has remained the same as long as I can remember it being a service. I've been a paying customer for 5 years now and it's always been $99. I have the family plan, which allows me 6 accounts each getting 1TB of OneDrive space. That gets me 6TB total of OneDrive space.
Considering that 2TB of iCloud is $9.99 a month and a family plan of DropBox sharing 2TB across 6 users is $16.99 a month.....Office 365 is actually a bargain.

If you have no desire to have any cloud space, it might not be worth it to you, but if cloud space is something you would have bought anyway, Office 365 is a fantastic way to get it.

For me, I'm not sure how long I will really want to use Microsoft Office. Paying $439 PER COPY (I use it on 3 machines), would mean $439 x 3 = 1,317 today. It would take me over a decade before I hit that cost with the subscription.

The link I posted earlier does exactly this. I use Office 2019 without ever having to sign into my MS account.

Are you using Windows HOME or PRO. On Windows HOME a lot of users a while ago when starting up OFFICE 2019 reported that the OFFICE/365 logos instead of the OFFICE 2019 ones appeared even though OFFICE 2019 was installed on their computers.

I believe that there were fixes for this somewhere in this section of the Forum. AFAIK this problem never occurred on W10 PRO.

It appears that the easiest solution for me was to turn off Sync in settings. I do not communicate with Microsoft often, usually only to download a tool. Thanks for your comments.
