Outlook Exchange, Gmail account in Outlook, sync contacts possible?

I have Office 365, Outlook on Exchange and within Outlook I also have have 2 Gmail accounts (IMAP).
Currently I am using a 3rd party tool to sync contacts (exporting to and importing from vCards) so as to sync contacts and have them available on smartphone devices.

The vCards method works well, requiring a number of steps though.

It is a (very)long shot, I know, but given the Outlook and Gmail accounts are within the same application, is there no way to automatically sync those details?

    Thanks.

What sync software are you using to sync your contacts? What smartphone - Android or Apple?

I use CompanionLink (desktop side) with DejaOffice (Smartphone side) to sync my Outlook contacts and calendars to my Android phone. Been using it for about 10 years now. Works well for me.

BTW there is CompanionLink for Google, but, though I've got a Gmail account attached to my Outlook account, I only use Outlook for both Contacts and Calendars, so I can't speak on it for Google.

Thanks. I export contacts to vCard format (using ReliefJet) and import those into Google Contacts (IMAP). Also have to do that with my wife's Gmail. Bottomline, even though both Gmail and Outlook are within the same application, Outlook has no native option to sync contacts to Gmail, i.e. one always needs some 3rd party tool to perform that task.
    Bad luck.

I'm not clear on what you mean here....

Are you using the Outlook app for your phone?

If so, and you have your Gmail account attached to Outlook, you can easily use Outlook's contacts with Gmail.

Simply choose your Gmail account within Outlook, compose a new mail and choose your contact. On the phone device do the same, but start typing the contact name and it should auto populate from a list of names in the contacts. That's how it works for me on both desktop and android phone. My contacts are sync'd to my phone using CompanionLink.

CompanionLink syncs Contacts, Calendars, Tasks, Notes, and Categories between desktop and phone/tablet devices.

At the end of the day I'm not quite sure of your procedures or what you're asking. Sorry.

Thanks again. To make it even more complicated.

Actually I maintain addresses in Excel.
This is because within Excel I can add more "user defined" fields allowing me to be flexible on filtering.

Then, once in a while, I do the following steps.
From Excel I export specific columns to .csv and import those into Outlook 365 (Windows)
From Outlook 365 I export contacts to vCard (using Reliefjet)
Then in Google Contacts (Webbrowser) I first delete all contacts and then import contacts from the vCard file.
This into my and my wife's Gmail account.
So, in the end, Outlook and Gmail accounts have the same contacts.

On my PC I have Outlook 365, with my wife's Gmail (IMAP) and my own Gmail (IMAP) and I was hoping that, from Outlook, there would be a way to keep the Gmail contacts updated automatically. This is not the case, regretfully so.
One has to either use 3rd party software that does the sync or use software that produces a vCard list.

There is a Microsoft People App and I was hoping to 'connect' the three accounts to it, so changes would automatically take place, but didn't get it to work. Didn't get to work

On my smartphone I have Outlook and Gmail
    My wife only has Gmail

Anyway, I guess I'll hang on to the current way.,,

That's certainly a complicated way of doing things.

At this point I'm not quite sure what you want as first you mention smartphones, then you mention desktops and never mention phones again. You also never answered my question - "Are you using the Outlook app for your phone?"

I gave what I thought me be a solution, but now I'm not sure

    Good luck.

    Sorry, sorry....

Yes, on my smartphone I have both the Outlook app and Gmail app.
My wife is using the Gmail app on her phone.

However, that aside, I've made a mistake, or better, I started with a wrong assumption...

Somewhere along this conversion I realised that what I wanted simply wasn't possible.
At least not without using 3rd party software.

"Contacts" is an integrated part of Outlook.
Google Contacts is a separate app.

Frankly, I did not realise this when starting this thread.

I wrongly assumed that I could share Outlook 365 (Windows) contacts with Gmail thru the Outlook 'My Contacts' panel.
Meaning, without using 3rd party software.

    Sorry for the confusion.

    Ahum....

Suggestion: try Outlook CalDav Synchronizer or GO Contact Synch Mod - I'd have put links in only I got a posting error message, just search on Google/Bing to find.

For a few weeks now, I am using 3rd party add-on software Outlook4Gmail. It is working fine. It syncs Calendar and Contacts, shows possible duplicates and/or what entries are about to be deleted within either Gmail or Outlook when syncing things from/to Outlook/Gmail.
