Office 2007 Home and Student lost; substitutes clunky, so...

    20H2
The background is that two or so weeks ago I experimented with the free substitutes, but found them difficult and lacking. Somehow a strange file appeared, STR.TLB, before Excel and any substitute would open. Neither I nor a repair man, whom I called in to solve an unrelated more serious matter could remove it. Office 2007 was uninstalled, and he temporarily replaced by LIbre Office.
Now I find my carefully(!) guarded Office CD is missing, so will have to buy 2019.
It being ages since downloading a commercial program, Is it best acquired from MS, or a retailer e.g. PC World. Presumably it will download directly to the hard drive. If I want to make a back up can or need I?

Hi, if you don't have your Office key securely recorded, you may be able to retrieve it from your PC using a free tool such as
    KeyFinder | Magical Jelly Bean

You would then have to find downloads for Office 2007.
(Not supported by the Heidoc iso downloader e.g.)

    Discussed here:
Where can I download Office 2007? I have a product key

Just a thought... if you want a free option

Of course, if you had (or have) been using disk imaging routinely as is so often recommended here, you could restore an image of your system with Office 2007 installed. E.g. Macrium Reflect (free).

    @chipwood
Try here : Choose the Isos that aren't "pre-activated" and use your own product key.

    For the main archive

Download & Streaming : The Internet Archive Software Collection : Internet Archive

    For Office 2007

Download & Streaming : The Internet Archive Software Collection : Internet Archive Office 2007

There's some "untouched" isos and simply use your own product key.

    Cheers

--- If you can't determine the Office 2007 Home and Student product key

You might want to consider purchasing Office Home & Student 2019 One-time purchase

    I have Office Home & Student 2016 One-time purchase
I can reinstall it if I ever need to.

Hi, what sort of disk image?
E.g. Aomei Backupper, Macrium Reflect create disk image files.

Or do you mean an image file of an Office 2007 cd?
If so, what is the extension? How large is it? Is it from a valid source?

How have you tried to open it?

Clues welcome. I'm afraid my crystal ball is currently down for scheduled maintenance..

    I haven't a clue what I'd have to do.
