    Exiting Office 2019 applications

I've never liked pressing Top Right-Hand Corner "x" to exit an application, much preferring Menu > File > Exit.
The second approach seems to me to ensure a managed closedown, while the first seems more of an emergency stop with much potential for loose ends.
Office 2010 allowed the former pathway in all the applications. As early as Office 2016 and into Office 2019, Menu > File allows only Close (documents) not Exit (the application) - the only way to exit the application is TRHC "x".
It "feels" horrible. Are the two Exit strategies equivalent? What happened to Menu > File > Exit, and why?

PS Only Outlook of all the applications allows my preferred pathway.

I don't think the Close button is improper in any way.

Office will always prompt you if you're leaving loose ends behind.

Thank you! My anxieties are eased.

But - I did find the italic emphases patronising, sarcastic and unwelcome, for all your 17,000 posts and hallmarked membership. Sorry - but that's how they came across, to me, as a 3-month Junior Member with 8 posts.
