Well, one piece of luck!
I went to the HP laptop to get its ID, then checked on MS Office to be sure which version it had, and lo and behold, it asked if I wanted to add this device to an activated version of Office! I said OK, and it said Get Started, I clicked and now my Lappy is on Microsoft 365!
Now I gotta find where I stashed the 14" Lenovo lappy to get its ID and hopefully do the same with it. If it doesn't already have Microsoft 365.
Edit:P Found it right where I put it.
Little Lenovo is happily updating; she hasn't been used in a few months.
Cool. I also change computer name to something meaningful to me. Easier to zap one when needed.
Yeppers, I'm thinking about that too, but am a bit hesitant. Will Microsoft 365 recognize the change and tell me which of my 'puters Microsoft 365 is on. So far, I have two successful installations. I still haven't gone to the Microsoft 365 site Andre told me about. That's later after I've picked up my prescriptions.
Good question Wynona.
You could
- write down the existing name of computer
- change name and wait a day
- check if account info updated.
- then if needed go back and place the old name in.
I would also think that if you sign out of office and then sign in it will pick up what ever the current computer name is.
Finally! I waited so long because I wanted to be sure there was nothing of the former Office 365 left on my account; that it had truly been scrubbed . . .
Then using the link you provided, I tried again and, wonder of wonders, it installed! I now have Microsoft 365 installed on my Insider partition!
Now I only have Little Lenovo to go; she's sitting over there patiently waiting for her turn.![]()
