    Buying Office cheap

I already use Office 2013 but when a repair shop installed a new motherboard, somehow they fouled up the Office installation and I have been using it no problems but not activated. I am now setting up a new PC and I probably will not be able to transfer Office from the old PC, therefore I am considering buying Office 2019 with Outlook, but I have seen there are many companies offering the product key for around £16 claiming it is all perfectly legal.
Has anyone bought one of these keys and were there any problems. I'm only a home user, not business, therefore I do not wish to pay the high costs of Office retail or 365. LibreOffice would be fine but I would like to keep Outlook.

You could consider Mozilla Thunderbird [email, calendar, tasks, messaging] in place of Outlook and that would free you up to use one of the free suites for the other office applications - Apache/Open/LibreOffice.

I know nothing about cheap MSOffice licences.

    Best of luck,

Thanks Denis. I was hoping to stay with Outlook because I use the folders for long term archive of emails. Its just a drag and drop.

    Understood.

I use Office 2007. I bought another copy soon after it went out of support so I could install it on a new computer. It only cost about £40 but prices have since risen dramatically for 2007 & other old versions.

I have just bought Office 2019 Pro Plus for £27.85 direct from Microsoft store: -

Microsoft Office 2019 Professional Plus - Windows -

It installed fine but to activate it you have to phone the Microsoft Office activation line (which is a toll free number in the UK) and you get transferred to speak to a real person in the USA. You have to tell he/she a 54 digit code (which is 9 blocks of 6 digits long) that shows up on your screen (being very careful not to make a mistake). They then reply quoting a 48 digit code (which is 8 blocks of 6 digits) that you type into 8 empty boxes on the screen so you have to listen very carefully and ask them to repeat if there is any doubt. After that is done the Office is activated and you are good to go.

I am hoping mine will stay activated since it does appear a genuine microsoft website.

    Good luck.

    Wiganken:

Regarding that site, many details here:

Is mssoftware.uk genuine? - MS Licensing - Spiceworks

Highly unlikely it is "a genuine Microsoft website", but you may or may not have a good experience.

More likely it is "Stephen .........."

I hope it works out for you but both of your statements are incorrect.
    - You have not bought from the Microsoft Store but from a non-MS organisation based in Truro called "MicrosoftStore.Org". Its 'Registered Office' is in Northampton. Its phone number uses the Leeds dialling code.
    - It does not appear to be a genuine Microsoft website and does not make any claim to be one.

Some parts of their terms & conditions are laughable -

At the end of the day, I see 2 risks....neither ofwhich have to be showstoppers.

#1. You have to give these places your credit card info. If you can do via a prepaid card, that's what I would do.

#2. Your activated copy might deactivate someday due to being not really legit. As long as you can afford that loss and concern #1 doesn't bother you much, you don't really have much else to lose.

    It's 100% not a Microsoft site.

Yeah, you can easily find numerous typos and grammatical errors on their terms and conditions pages............something Microsoft is extremely unlikely to do.

But I have no idea of the legality, propriety, or suitability of the products offered.
