You mention "windows updates" my sister is still on Win 7, I was led to believe support for 7 has ended (therefore no updates).
Office updates. You get them through Windows update.

    Hello again
I (embarrassingly) have shown just how senile I'm getting!I quoted that the Office 2007 was on an old HDD, wrong! some while back I had a problem to which I couldn't sort (nor could my local PC shop/engineers in Norwich) and found only thing to do was to make myself another account, which sorted that.
However! it is on old account that 2007 is still on, (so still on this computer), I logged onto old account and un-installed 2007 which I'm sure you're probably not surprised although listed as two separate programs in 'add/remove programs' took away 2019 as well even on my new account that I use now (don't want to delete old account yet as find that sometimes I need to retrieve things from there) did a system restore to get back to where I was.
Is there anyway I can take 2007 off without taking 2019 away?, I guess you're going to say remove both and install 2019 again, however! I'm not confident that I still have original exe file, the one I'm seeing in my download folder seems to be for 'Office assistant 365 in icon description' and is only 196kb.
Once again any advice (that I can understand) would be gratefully received.
I bought this 2019 online quite cheaply but don't want to have to buy another.

I'll reply more fully but first please tell me
1 Do you have your Office 2007 Product key?
If not, do you have a system image from before you removed Office 2007 that you could restore to because
2 There are ways to retrieve the product key while it is still installed. [I have never seen anybody report that they can still do so after uninstallation but that might be worth trying - just to save a bit of bother]
3 What exactly is your current state. You said both had been removed but then seemed to imply you still had 2019. I did not follow something properly, I think.
Okay, I have read it again and can see that you restored to before the disaster.

    Richard,

1 I think you should just leave everything as it is if you are not confident about your Office 2019 installation file.

2 Just pass on your Office Pro 2007 as you had intended and leave yours unused.

3 The Office 2019 installation file is not necessarily a problem because it might be an online installer that does little more than call up the full installation file from the internet. But there's no need to put this to the test if you don't want to.
I have lost of notes about Uninstalling Office but I don't seem to have any notes about the installation procedure. I'll add a link here if I find it.

    4 Side-issues

4.1 Office 2007 and user accounts
    - Office 2007 is not installed just for individual user accounts. It is installed to the computer. I only mention this to avoid any misunderstandings.
    - Office 2019 might be installed just for a single user account for all I know but I would be surprised. I appreciate that you might have had to use an MSAccount during installation but I thought it would still be installed to the computer for use by all users.
    - My knowledge of Office 2019 would not fill a matchbox.
4.2 Retrieving info form your old user account
    - You can copy all your own files from that old user account any time you like. I think it would be worth doing as soon as the current job is done because then you can make sure that everythign is covered by whatever file backup scheme you use.
    - Copying is safer than moving. If anything goes wrong the original files will still be there so you can have another go.
    - If you are not short of disk space then there would be little benfit in deletign anythign form the old user account providing it was protected with a decent password [that you have written down somewhere secure yet readily accessible].
    - I always keep one or two unused user accounts [Admin ones] so I can be confident of getting back into the computer if my real user account ever got seriously corrupted [which might, from the sound of it, be what happened to your old one but it could not have been particularly serious if you were able to log into it].

As I see it, the only significant issue is checking that you have your Office 2007 product key so you can give it to your sister.

    Richard,

These instructions do make me think you could install Office 2019 again without any problems.
Download and install or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2019 - MSSupport

And this rather confirms it - the existence of an offline installer implies that the normal one must be an online installer
Use the Office offline installer - MSSupport

These articles make me wonder why you had any problem removing Office 2007
Install and use different versions of Office on the same PC - MSSupport
Office 2007 and Office 2013, 2016, or 2019 side by side - MSSupport

Thank you for all the replies, I have a fully boxed 2007 with key, only reason for wanting to remove it is because I wanted to give to my sister.
My 2019 is all working fine but as said removing 2007 did away with 2019 as well (that's why I did a system restore to get everything back to as is).
I don't use 2007 but thought it would still count as on my machine even though in different account if she has it on her machine and I'd get into issues with Microsoft.
Looking like I may as well to just buy her a copy of Office as I did and leave my machine as is.

    Richard,

It occurs to me that you could try removing Office 2007 again [secure in the knowledge that you can restore once more if you want to] and then use the MS instructions to download and re-install Office 2019.

    Thanks I'll try this

    - - - Updated - - -

    Hello again worry gut here.
I was preparing to do as suggested and went into add/remove programs in both accounts, there is now no entry or mention of office 2007, only office 2019 profesional.
Does this indicate that I've somehow got 2007 off this PC?
    Thanks again for all help.

    Richard,

    Yes, you've done it then.

If I had been doing something like this, I would now make a new system image before doing anything else at all.
    - I'd keep the earlier system image [that you used before] for a while at least.
    - You have not mentioned which utility you use for your system images. I use a free version of AcronisTI but most people in this forum use Macrium Reflect [free version].

Once I had the system image safely tucked away, I'd run the Office 2019 repair procedure just in case it had been damaged during the repeated uninstallation procedures.
    - Your repair procedure is entirely different to mine so I cannot comment on it.
    - Repair an Office application - MSSupport
    - If there were any remnants of Office 2007 that might get in the way at some unpredictable future time then the repair procedure should sort them out.

After that I'd make yet another system image. One day I must get round to weeding out some of my old ones.

    Oh dear
Never done a system image? could I ask what to do? I have a second 1tb drive in my PC to store all my documents, images, videos and such, I assume I could store any image file there?
