    Office 2007 query

Hello everyone, I hope someone will answer a question please.
I'm using office 2019 which I purchased as a download and not an update, I used to have office 2007 which I have original disk set and when I used it, it was on an old HDD (since got win10 on new HDD).
My query is: I'd like to give the 2007 to my sister but will I get into grief as was obviously registered to me years ago?
    Thanks in advance.
    Richard

If you have the original DVD and the product key that came with it then, as you no longer have it installed on the original machine, there should be no problem installing it on a new machine.

You may need to use phone activation, see this thread.

    Richard,

I've just re-used an Office 2007 on a new computer and it activated online in the normal manner.
    - It had previously been activated on several other computers
    - Different Editions of Office 2007 have different licence terms.
    - - I have Office 2007 Pro and I can have it installed and in use on both a desktop and a laptop at the same time.
    - - Office 2007 Home & Student has even looser terms [I think that can be used on three computers at the same time].
    - - The licence document is copied to the HDD during installation.
    - - Download Office 2007 Pro licence terms That's the only one of my old licence download links that still works. MS have removed the others since support ended.

Thank you for reply, the 2007 is Office Professional 2007.
Apologies for being a bit of a numpty but! I read from your reply that it'll be OK, it was on an old HDD that I was running win7 on and have replaced HDD with a full new win 10 and have office 2019 now.

Yes you have understood correctly. If it is no longer installed on a working computer then you can install it on another one.

I assume, merely because you have not mentioned any problems, that you have the Product key. That's the code in the form XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX that you need to activate it.

    Richard,

You'll have stacks of updates to do after installation. You can just let Windows update take care of them all as long as you have set the entry for Receive updates for other Microsoft products when you update Windows
    [it's in Settings, Updates, Advanced].

You mention "windows updates" my sister is still on Win 7, I was led to believe support for 7 has ended (therefore no updates).

End of support for Windows 7 just means no new updates or fixes for the OS will be issued, Windows Update will still find all previous updates, and new versions of virus definitions for MSE/Defender and the Malicious Software Removal tool which are still being updated for Win7.

If you have selected the option to receive updates for other MS products it will find all the Office 2007 updates.
