Ready to buy digital Lic for MS Office Pro 2019 standalone

I'm still using MS Office 2007 on my desaktop PC. I use Word and Excel but still using Outlook for all my email accounts.
I know Office 2021 is coming soon and thinking buying Office 2019 online for about $50 with digital lic. and download link.
I don't use Office much, Word and Excel but really still like to use Outlook.

Should I update to 2019 Office Pro or keep my perfectly running Office Pro 2007?

Are these online sites that sell MS Office Pro Lic legit or a scam?
    Any you suggest is legit.
Have you bought before using this method?
    Pro's and Con's?

    Thank you all.

    Hi winxp,
I have done this 3 times. They give you a link to download and a product key with instructions on how to activate the product if MS refuses to activate on line. It worked 3 times for me, BUT i have been back to the same site or tried and the site is gone now. I don't know if MS did the take down or they just disappeared
    Good Luck to you
PS: I used to run Office 2007 till i got an update from MS win 10. after that Excel will not let me input anything in a field. you can still read the file, but no changes

Only you can say if you need to update.

If you are using it for business, then keeping up to date is needed to ensure you remain compatible with clients.

If you only use it for light personal work, probably not worth updating but eventually, you miss out on new features.

Most of the cheap deals are dodgy or outright scams, and often get blocked. It is against forum rules to discuss/encourage use of these. Buy from a legitimate dealer is the site policy advice.

Many of us here now use MS Office 365 for about £60 per year. For that, you can install it on 5 pcs and get 1TB of Onedrive cloudspace. It is always updated.

Paid versions are typically on a three year cycle, and it only works out cheaper if you say only update every other release, but even then, no cloudspace and only for one PC.

For only £80 a year, you can buy a six user licence (as low as £13.33 per user per year and each get 1 TB cloudspace), and each user can install on 5 pcs i.e. up to 30 PCs! For families, this is an amazing deal - the family/friends can be on the opposite side of the world even.

Some companies also have a deal where you get 30% off the MS lease (mine does), but the beauty is that discount is a perpetual discount you leave the company.

I have MS Office Starter 2010 on my 2012 Dell 1909 desktop. I was thinking about updating Office, but will wait to see if my W10 1909 Dell with Conexant audio drivers will update to 2004 or 2009 first (using Windows Update).

Meanwhile I'll just use the Office app, which is listed in the Start/Program list. This includes FREE MS Office web apps and OneDrive (5 GB free storage). Good enough for now.

Install office in upper right of Office app requires purchase of MS Office 365 subscription.

So I guess I will keep what I have Office 2007 as it still fits my minimal needs at home.
But thank you all for input, suggestions and personal insight of present and future plans.

I would upgrade to benefit from the better security since Office 2007 is no longer supported.

I just bought an Office 2019 licence for £5. Always confirm with the supplier that any key offered will work with the installation file you download from a MS server. Various people report here they have bought such keys which still work after several years as do mine.

    Hi there
as always CAVEAT EMPTOR -- however I have 3 licenses for Office 2019 -- all still working after loads of updates - including running on latest insider Windows releases -- so I suppose it depends on where you buy from.

I'm rather against the "subscription model" since it's very easy to subscribe for this and that etc for "only a few USD / EUR etc" a month and very soon you'll be paying an indordinate amount of money out every month.

I prefer where possible just to pay once or yearly - if subscription models weren't so profitable companies wouldn't be urging people to subscribe.

At least Amazon Prime lets you pay a yearly sub - around 80 EUR in my case and well worth it -- but that's another issue.

    Cheers

I am also sticking with my Office 2007.
    - I use Outlook, Excel, Access & Office picture manager every day and Word weekly.
    - I have not had any problems running them under Windows 10.
    - The fault that Sven described has been reported for several Excel versions - it is not specific to Excel 2007.

I used Office 2016 for a year but it had several new user-hostile 'features' so I upgraded back to Office 2007.

If you do ever consider a new version, I'd suggest trying to find a free one month trial of Office 365 first so you can see for yourself if your particular needs are adversely affected or not.

I've had the same buying experience - no problems provided you ask the right questions before you buy.

Thank Denis. So I feel better know I'm not the onlyone using Office 2007.
Yes for my limited usage I'll stick with it.
    Thanks
