Word icon missing from all docs in Office 2019 Pro Plus

I have Windows 10, 2004 19041.502. I'm new with windows 10 and I installed my old Office 2010. I then installed Office 2019. I removed the old Word and Excel and left the rest of 2010 on the laptop for now. At some point later for unknown reason, my 2019 became Office 2016. I followed the instructions to repair both online and offline many times and I could could not get 2019 back. But also the Word icon disappeared from all my word docs both on the desktop and in folders. Somehow I finally got Office 2019 back although the Onenote icon has 2016 next to it. No big deal. But what is driving me absolutely insane is that I cannot get the 2019 Word icon, or any Word icon to replace these generic blank icons. I have googled for a week and tried all the repairs, even going into the registry but all to no avail. Anyone know how to fix this? I have seen in my searches that other people have the same problem with the Word icon. My Office is MS Office Pro Plus 2019

It's normally good practice to uninstall an old version of Office before installing the new one. Have you tried a repair install of Office 2019?

I suggest uninstalling all versions of Office and reinstalling Office 2019 again. I suggest using the Microsoft Office Uninstall Tool - see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...c-2fdf5dbf61d8

Fantastic Steve! I cannot thank you enough after this has driven me crazy for over a week, maybe even two weeks. I had thought of uninstalling as an absolute last resort. I wanted to keep some of the 2010 programs that are not included in 2019 and I had already uninstalled Word and Excel 2010 (unless it really just hides them. In any case, as soon as I completely uninstalled Office 2010 from Control Panel, all of my Word files magically had the 2019 icons and nothing further such as uninstalling 2019 was necessary. Even the Onenote icon on the start menu that had "2016" next to it no longer has the 2016. Why didn't I come ere first......all that Googling, Youtube videos, messing with the Registry etc, etc. Geeze!
