    Outlook and Gmail sync issues

For some time now Outlook on the PC has been having issues syncing with the Gmail account; the Mail app has no such issues, nor a Mac I have at work (all using the same Gmail account).

    Well known, or just me?

Much appreciated; I had been trying to avoid 2-step verification, but I guess I have to move with the times.

P.S. Seems that did not solve the problem, so I turned it off.

    Which "Outlook" would that be?

I'm running Office 365 and using both desktop app and Android app and Gmail works without issue on them. And I've had Gmail setup on them for some time.

    Office 365

Deleting and reinstalling GMail seems to have fixed it for now.

    Hi shiekh,

    During the past 10-14 days, I've been observing Outlook authentication issues with only a Gmail account. I'm using Outlook from a 365 subscription as a client for 5 email accounts including;
    2 hotmail accounts,
    1 outlook.com,
    1 isp/yahoo &
    1 Gmail account.

Intermittently, the Gmail account password dialogue box pops up and isn't satisfied after I enter the correct password.
I did test the 2 factor PW process and it also failed to authenticate so I removed 2 factor PW.
FYI, I've only started using Outlook again in the past 60 days approximately so my test period is limited.

I usually leave my PC in Sleep mode by closing the lid or a short non-activity timeout there-fore restarts are limited to about 1-5 times/week unless I'm testing a new process or tweak. I have Outlook configured to check mail every 10 or 15 minutes.

I'll begin logging this failure process and report back to this thread once I observe changes again. You're not alone with the Gmail grief on Outlook although it may be too early to say if we're experiencing the same issue or not.

Let's see if anyone else adds a comment.

I got caught out by the Gmail two factor thing / change to Oauth2, when I changed the PC I use for email and Thunderbird wasn't having it with Gmail despite having transferred all the profiles etc which I've done without issue in the past.
After setting up the two factor thing I was still getting failed password in Thunderbird. I had to actually delete the Gmail account, then add Gmail back again changing the authentication method to OAuth2, according Googles blurb it then installs a token in Thunderbird to allow it's use, this was back around November last year. Apparently it doesn't work or didn't when I was trying to fix the problem in Thunderbird unless you delete and then set up the account again with the new Authentication.

Deleting and reinstalling my GMail seems to have fixed things (I turned off 2-step verification)
