    Ralph,

    I'm glad it's resolved.

By the way, I'm still using office 2007 and, like you, I am not going to upgrade unless it stops working.

    Hi there

I think you don't have to re-install IE -- just enable it in the turn Windows features off and on, and then run IE once --then forget it.

This method worked for me on a W10 VM running Office 2010. Problem might only occur on some machines running 32 Bit windows or 32 Bit versions of Office 2010 --haven't got that scenario so unable to test that environment.

IE is well passed its sell by date - unfortunately its so intertwined with file explorer and some windows file attribute API's it probably will be some time before it's 100% gone -- file explorer and a load of other stuff will need to be re-worked - and whether that's a priority for Ms these days --who knows.

    Cheers

I was just made aware of this on a PC I have installed few days ago.
I suspect it could be due to the forced Edge update, but I have no idea.
    It's just FUBAR.
I can't get it to work in any way.

    Octopuss,

1 What is your default browser?

2 What browser installations/uninstallations have you done?

3 What fault rectification have you tried?

4 Install a browser because that can trigger correction of this fault without your having to take any further action. If you have already installed your preferred browser then
    either
    uninstall-reinstall it
    or
install another one as well [it can be removed later].

5 What is in this Registry key?
    Code:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\htmlfile\shell\open\command

6 I will probably refer you to Removed IE and now I cannot open hyperlinks in Outlook 2010 - TenForums so you might as well have the link now so you can look over it [posts 13, 3, 7].

7 If the problem is not fixed straightaway I suggest creating a thread of your own to avoid confusion between your problem and that of this thread's originator.
