Microsoft Publisher 2013 always defaults to File on the ribbon

Previously, when you clicked on Home or Insert or any of those things on the Ribbon, they would stay there until you clicked on something else to change it. The only exception was File. When you clicked on File and did your thing, it would then move over and highlight Home. Now, it is just the opposite. It stays on File now. When you click on Home it will allow you to click something in the Home tab, and then moves back over to File. The same thing happens when clicking on anything else on the ribbon. File always stays highlighted.Any ideas how to fix this? What a pain. Thanks,Zeek

Just checked and my Publisher Version 15 in Office 2013 works the same way. Guess what? So does Word.

Hmm. I have word 2007 and 2013 and neither of them do that.
File will stay highlighted, however if you click on any other tab, that tab will remain open until you click a different tab.
I use Publisher quite a bit up until about a month ago. I would have complained way back if it behaved the way it does now. I was thinking maybe one of their famous updates screwed it up. If I knew for sure then I could possibly uninstall it.

I'm not doubting that yours works that way, just that mine never did as far as I can remember:))
Thanks for the quick response and checking out Word. I never thought of trying that..

Kind of embarrassing but what the heck. There is a little, teeny, tiny carat on the far right side of the Ribbon that allows you to expand or collapse the ribbon, I must have hit that without knowing it.

Thanks Berton for checking things out..
