No method to disable Outlook 365 metered connection warning.

I've been using multiple webmail connections through a browser for years and finally took the plunge to activate all 5 email services using Outlook 365.

It's great to finally have all my email services in 1 location and Outlook 365 has some great features but... every time I reboot I get a metered connection warning and require a 'connect anyway' response. And often this forces me to jump hoops for my gmail two-factor authentication. I may require to ditch the two-factor authentication thing unless I find a suitable Tweak but that still doesn't fix the 'connect anyway' requirement.

I've searched and found the only solution posted is to change the 'set as metered connection' to off. Well that's simply brilliant, NOT.

I choose to set the connection as metered because I'm on a Wireless internet connection (very expensive) and it's another method to prevent Big Brother MS from suddenly and without warning, updating my OS (1809) and costing me a small fortune in data overage charges.

I would really appreciate any words of wisdom in how I can hide my metered connection status from Outlook 365.
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Doesn't Outlook and most programs needing the Internet connection take their lead from what the computer is using in conjunction with your ISP? Or in other words, is your computer using or set to use a metered connection?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have my PC network set as a metered connection. I just want to fool Outlook into not noticing instead of forcing me to accept the connection manually.

The snag will be Outlook using the Windows metered setting, would first have to change that. Don't see how Outlook could be spoofed into doing differently.

That's exactly the type of solution I'm searching for. I want Outlook to connect online with a metered connection without the manual intervention that is normally required.

Try something on these pages found by Search:

Thanks. Everything I've read to date including many of those hits all provide the same easy solution of change 'set as metered connection' to OFF.

I'm wondering if there might be a Group Policy solution, I haven't yet found a reg tweak that works. Still actively searching.

Your My Computer specs don't mention whether Win10 Home or Pro, some things in Group Policy need the Pro version. I have Pro on several computers and Home on a couple, since I'm not using a Server-based network there's not many times I really need Pro [acquiring it was relatively cheap so why not].

I just fixed that, I use 1809 Home. I do have access to some GP settings with an App called Privacy Plus and have managed some with Reg tweaks. If there's a GP policy, I might find a tweak.

In 2016, Eric4078 claimed to solve the problem in
[SOLVED] Outlook 2013 Giving a Metered Connection Warning in Windows 7? - Spiceworks
    Rename C:\windows\syswow64\mapisvc.inf to mapisvc.inf.bak
    Perhaps it is still useful.

I found another claim about the same fix in [SOLVED] Outlook 2013 and Metered Connection Warning | Tech Support That was in 2013 & I only mention it as encourgement that it is worth looking into.
