I feel like I have to prove something here, I have been a windows user since Windows 3, an office user since it was first introduced, like wise with exchange so I would like to think I have a little knowladge about this stuff like I know at least the diference between exchange, POP, IMAP, I have worked for the past 8 years in my local county council in IT application support for end users which includes Office 16/365, before that I was/still am a Windows developer using Delphi and a Web developer using Dreamweaver and VS 2019. I also was a meber of this forum many years ago.

So here are a few images of my settings on my working PC:

    Exchange settings

    More Settings tab:

    Web Exchange:

    Office Install:

I think the above should show it is an exchange account and Office able to be installed as indavidual apps.

    Hope that helps.

I hope I haven't pissed anybody off and get myself kicked off, bet hey!

Do not take offense to being asked questions or confirming answers. We simply have no idea what your knowledge level is. My post(s) are simply in response to what you say and how you phrase them. Sorry.

And I'm keenly aware of those setting since I have an exchange account through my school.

And as one who is actually using Office 365 the above statement is somewhat incorrect. That what you are showing there are the apps included in one package. Example I have Office 365 Personal which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, and Access. It shows up under my MS account as one Office Install... not individual apps....

That when you click on Install Office you get this...

Nowhere does it give the option to install individual apps.

At this point in time I've no further suggestions. Good luck.

Sorry sygnus21, Office I understand what you mean now and you are correct, my exchange account comes with outlook on it's own but have never bothered with it as it comes with (should we say) Microsoft 365 :). Thanks for your help, it is appreciated I am just getting frustrated with the whole thing.

It is resolved, Microsoft logged in and showed me what to do.

    1. Clear delete some registry settings to do with Outlook (I have a list if anyone wants them.)
    2. Go into Credential Manager/Windows Credential and clear out all that are linked to a MS account.
    3. Settings/Accounts/Access work or School/ delete all accounts to do with MS and then add the one account that you want.

Open Outlook and setup email and if Exchange or Office 365 settings still fail, use the Outlook option.

    Happy bunny again

    Hi Mr Basher,

I realise that this thread is 4 years old, but just wondering if you remember which registry fields you deleted. I have struggled with the same issue on outlook 2016 for a number of years and finally gave up and bought 2019 to get away from the annoying issue. However because I stupidly installed 2019 before deleting 2016 and it has kept up teh ridiculous "I'll keep signing you into office as well as outlook" regime.

To make it even more confusing I also have a laptop with Outlook 2019 running that DOESN'T do this insistent logging in - so I know that it can be done...

    Cheers,
    Mike
