Is there an option to 'Repair' your Office installation?
If you have the product key have you considered reinstalling Office?

Also, if you no longer have the install media you can download Office 2010 from Microsoft. All you need is your Product Key.
BTW, I just tested it with my Office 2010 Pro key. The site still works.
Download Earlier Versions of Office

Already done repair sometime back, did not work. I really would like to know what the cause is, but yes I have thought about reinstalling word and probably will in the near future if I cannot determine the reason.
The cause is often unknown and that's why nebulous words like 'glitch' was invented. . Sounds like a reinstall to me. Good luck sorting it out.
Marked as solved even if I do not know why.
Issue has not happened again since the 15th of August.
Have no idea how, what or why!
Really appreciate all your attempts to resolve this!
