What "Word 2013 doc. list"? Do you mean the list of files shown in File explorer, in Word Open/SaveAs dialogs or in something else?

A screenshot would help to avoid misunderstandings.

I mean any list that I have made in a Word document that could be a list of names, places, types of fruit, trees or forums etc. These items in the list would not had been typed in alphabetical order and I want to be able rearrange in them abc order. Each subject would have been on its own line and I thought that Word could be set to do this

I use Softmaker Textmaker which is real similar to Word. In Textmaker if you highlight all of the items you want to put in order then go to EDIT then to SORT, it will alphabetize all the items you highlighted. Hope this helps.

I usually use Winsorter to do that:

    WinSorter - Portable BR Soft

    Or use an online tool:

Sort Text Lines – Text Mechanic

    Word can do that.

Select all the itmes you want sorted then click on the Home tab, Paragraph group, A-Z icon.
    - It brings up a dialog that allows you to choose some options but you can just click on the OK button to do what you want.
