If my memory serves me (and sometimes it does not) you can add the product and key and it will register in your account... the activation comes from the install... and that's my story and I am stickin to it..

I had already found that web page, the problem is it does not accept my codes. The other links on that page just send you round in circles, never finding the page you are looking for. I suspect you have to start from a base of having an Office 365 account to be able to add other products.

Well, then you might have to activate the programs via phone call with MS... pretty much the way it is done or was done in the past... simple enough, just another hoop to jump through...

I also have Office 2019 which i purchased from a software retailer. Got a key and iso.
When i installed it first time i think (but i am not sure) that i at some point entered my Microsoft account email during install/activation as well as the key.
I have since then performed a clean install of windows 10. I installed Office 2019 from the iso, and when i entered the key i got the message that "this key has allready been used" (or something similar). I then clicked "back" and got the message "Hello xxxxx (my name), please confirm your account" (exact wording may vary since this was in danish). Then i clicked "next" and the software got activated automatically.
Office 2019 is visible on my MS account and i also use MS account for my windows 10.
