First post although Ive referred to this forum often so hi all.
In Outlook 2016, its annoying having to enable SMTP authentication and SSL/TLS and ports 993 and 465 every time. I really dont understand why Office 365 still uses insecure email settings as default as well as no authentication.
Is there a way to have these enabled by default for all new email accounts?

Are you saying that every time you start Outlook you have to enter the details to log onto your mail server? The details you list are determined by your mail service provider not Outlook. Different accounts may require different settings
No, its a change of hosting. My customers uses shared hosting, ads they are a small business with around 8 staff. I had to set up 3 W10 laptops, 3 iPads, a Mac, two W10 desktops and a iPhone to change to a new email hosting. Each device is using multiple IMAP accounts. By default, the iPads and iPhone use encryption. Each account has to have a custom setup as autodiscover isn't working. I've since delved into autodiscover, which would help, but looks quite complex to set up.
In the old days, you could use .iaf files which saved loads of time.
My gripe with Microsoft is the use of ports 25 and 110. Still. Now. In 2020, when everyone uses encrypted mail by default. But mostly its about saving time.
Adam.. You need to set up your email server ports and encryption using the mail app in user accounts in the old Control Panel, (it still says Outlook 2016 in there but it still works with Outlook 365 etc.) this is one of my Imap/Smtp accounts:-
